My last post seemed to spark a lot of rage among you, as it was a video of a tunnel access point that had been bulldozed. This is one that was wide open and has been closed up due to natural erosion and weather events. A few of you wanted to see how these sorts of tunnels open up. Inside, so here is a longer video. The pinch point only lasts 20 or 30cm or so then it's a crawl. This tunnel ran for around 90 further metres up over that next collapse.

We embarked on an extensive weekend excursion, engaging in mountain hiking and venturing into remote areas to uncover significant artifacts about Queensland's mining history.

A cool find. Left in place like we always do, as the site is on the state's historical registry. Once we had finished our mine mine-hunting trip, we researched this bottle and were amazed that "Woods" is indeed still in business. In fact, they still have a similar product on shelves today as "Woods Coughs & Colds Cure"

A local historian assisted us in dating this bottle to around the 1880s to 1885 time period. If you dig the clip? Full adventure link to vid is here from last month

I posted a few photos of this a few months back, and a few of you were keen to see the full adventure! Here it is

This was a silver producer that ceased operation in the 1930s. The adit drives into the base of an incredibly stunning 80 metre waterfall. I think looking at the maps and surveying underground, it was abandoned due to an error in sinking the shaft that led directly to the plant. The shaft got to within 25 metres af the main drive on the deposit. They either missed it or abandoned linking the workings to the shaft or abandoned their progress due to the terrible ground. The ground where the shaft was planned to intercept the main adit hit a grey clay. Its extremely unstable ground as you will see if you watch the video.
