A heavily waterlogged part of a depleted gold mine from the 1950s. -320 meters above the Earth's surface, 100% humidity, and a standard temperature of +5 Celsius—not the most comfortable place for a five-day stay. This is where we set up our base camp, where we returned after forays to horizons of -410 and deeper.
Dear Community, I don't personally believe in them, but I am deeply fascinated by mining myths from around the world—from the Bergmönch(Mine-Monk, Erzgebirge Germany) and the Skarbnik(Treasurer, Czech Repuplik & Poland) all the way to the Tommyknockers ( Cornwall, Wales, Pennsylvania). What mythical mining creatures exist in your region? Please mention the country or region, along with the specific creatures found there.
Glück auf from Germany!
A quick clip from a recent expedition to a longwall lead mine. To reach the 12th level, which was poorly exploited by metal scrapers, I had to assemble a team of enthusiasts and hang 400 meters of rope through an abandoned ventilation shaft using the SRT technique.
Visited this area as a kid. Graduated and did a road trip back to the area. Spent the day exploring the open mines. Went about 1.5 miles in. Turned around when we realized there was low oxygen.
Vid coming up in an hour or so!
Bunkers, Tunnels and Caves in the French vosgues
From a little explore some time ago, pretty unremarkable but still cool to see. The old wood where the tracks wouldve gone ontop of was very cool, and also the little carts still in there. Fun explore despite it not being very big.
If you want to see more of my explores i post on my instagram frequently and usually before i do on reddit, @norway.unknown for those whom wish to follow.
