Who are the best sorceresses morally in the books?
In my opinion, the only decent human being among sorceresses is Marti Sodergren, despite being incredibly promiscous. Even if I adore Yennefer, I wouldn't call her a decent human being considering the things she done to Geralt and Dandelion in "the Last Wish" and her role in genetic manipulation on the Elder Blood gene even though she obviously regrets it after learning everything from Francesca. As far as I know, Marti is the only sorceress who is not interested in power or politics. She is not much different than a common doctor trying to save lives. One of the saddest parts in the books for me is her crying over not being able to save Hen Gedymdeith and questioning Sabrina slapping her. Also her refusal to leave behind Dorregaray to die right in the chaos of what's happening around her made me respect her so much even after getting annoyed by her comments about Geralt and Yennefer during the ball. An underrated character in my opinion with a very sad end to her story.
I would also consider Tissaia de Vries as morally good, but I believe her conviction on forbidding sorceresses from having any kids is one of the biggest reasons that many of the sorceresses grow up to be ambitious, arrogant, cunning and vile because they can't choose to live a normal life like common people and will have trouble in any romantic relationship they are in because of the world they live in. Yennefer becoming a much better person after meeting Ciri is a testament to that.
If I had to choose someone from the Lodge, I think Assire var Anahid is the best one as the only shady stuff we see her doing is her trying to protect her relative Cahir.
