Goodbye hits different now

After watching Waterfall, I binge-watched the Rainimator series from start to finish. But this was my first time watching "Goodbye" for a loooong time... and I was not prepared for the emotional context that "Demons" added.

This is not Patrick's and Herobrine's first meeting. It's not their first fight. This is a lot more personal than that. Herobrine knows Patrick was sided with the people that killed his wife (Bella, if I'm not mistaken). And Herobrine couldn't have known this, but if you rewatch "Demons," you'll see that Patrick was one of the two men who who came for Bella, implying that Patrick was directly responsible for killing Herobrine's wife (even though Herobrine wouldn't have known that).

I highly recommend that you go. Rewatch "Goodbye". Rewatch the fight, the scene where Herobrine, rather than doing the smart thing and ending the fight quickly, chooses to punch the life out of Patrick. Rewatch it with this added context fresh in your mind.

Why is my 2nd nether portal not working right?

My first Nether portal (roughly 100, 30, -20 in the overworld) spot was okay, but I haven't found any fortresses yet. So I got the idea to build a second portal in a different spot (roughly -800, -40, -380 in the overworld) and hope that this new spot was near something good.

But when I went through the second portal (about 900 blocks away), it transported me to the same exact spot in the Nether through the exact same portal. What's more is that when I went back to the overworld, it put me out through the first portal I made, and I tried more than once. I had to walk back to the second portal through the Overworld.

What did I do wrong? Is it just not possible to make a second portal in the overworld that leads to a new spot in the Nether?

Help filling the Hyrule Compendium?

One of my goals in TotK is to fill the Hyrule Compendium. Some creatures are small and elusive, but there is one big creature that's giving me trouble: the Satori. The only time I have seen it is when I put an apple in the cherry blossom tree bowl, but that's a cutscene, so I can't take a picture. When it's over, the Satori is no longer there. But there does seem to be a slot for it right alongside the Blupee and Bubbul Frog, meaning that it has to be possible to take a picture of it.

Where and how in TotK can I see a Satori not in a cutscene so that I can take a picture and add it to my Hyrule Compendium?

My stories feel hollow, and I don't know how to fix it.

For years I've been working on a fantasy story. Lots of worldbuilding, and I kinda just made things up as I went along. Now that I'm trying to rework it, nothing seems to work and I get stuck around Chapter 10 every rewrite.

So I started a new story, completely opposite method. I'm plotting the story before I write it, laying the foundations of the character, and I've done only basic worldbuilding so far.

Yet both plots feel empty and not cohesive and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Odd question about a name...

So I was reading Sunlit Man, and I got to the part where >!Nomad became Connected so he could speak/understand the local language. But the Connection only works for his native language.!<

That got me thinking about how in The Way of Kings, >!Rock says that his full name, Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor, is a description of a rock his father found. But when he says that name, that's in his native language.!<

So would I be correct in assuming that >!if Rock were to Connect to a foreign land so that him speaking in his native language would translate, that his full name would be the description of the rock? That we, the readers, would see what "Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor" translates to, and we would actually get a description of the rock that Rock was named after?!<

Looking to broaden my Fantasy/Sci-fi horizons.

I'm very much a "stick with what I know" type of person. If I like a series or author, I will read and reread and reread, and it's only in the past few months that I've been trying new stuff (mainly because by friend forced me to borrow a copy of her book). Some thing I've tried have gone over really well, and some are a bit of a drag.

My two pieces of criteria are: character driven (or at least character heavy) and no smut (though romance is fine). Some books/series I like are:

  • Red Rising
  • The Wheel of Time
  • Codex Alera
  • Gods of Blood and Power
  • Basically anything Brandon Sanderson breathes on
