They are Illumination Brainrot. They exist just to add stupid comedy to the movies. Just when you think you have a good moment, the very next scene is a bunch of Minion Shenanigans, and those scenes don’t even matter to the plot.

In Despicable Me 1. That whole supermarket scene was not needed, they could’ve just not shown it.

In Despicable Me 2. The kidnapping didn’t need to be a whole island thing, they could’ve just been kidnapped and left some clues.

In Despicable Me 3. The Minions could’ve just not gone to prison and the story wouldn’t change since they show up to help Gru anyways.

I haven’t seen Despicable Me 4 so if you have please tell me if the “Mega Minions” play an actual role other than being Illuminations overused joke?
