Transition from first batch to second batch

Hi everyone

Very proud of a successful first batch - it's sourer than I wanted, maybe because we've had unusually high temps here in the UK. I should have started tasting earlier. But it's fizzy and no mould, and for a first try I'm pretty happy 😊

I've had the pellicle sitting in the remainder of the liquid (about 1/4 of the original batch) for a few days at room temp, covered with a cloth.

Is that ok between batches? It looks ok, lots of bubbles but nothing that looks mouldy at all.

How do I go about making the second batch. Do I just top up with fresh tea and sugar or is it better to decant and clean my brewing jar then put everything back in?

I've read through the wiki but still not feeling very confident on what to do at this stage. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and getting me this far!

I am currently planning a holiday which has involved making some payments using IDR (indonesian rupiah).

When I tried to pay while on my Chromebook, it threw an error every time. The error message on the merchants website was very generic ("An error has occurred").

I was originally trying through Google Wallet, then later tried an Incognito window and just typing in my card details in case the Wallet was the issue. Failure each time.

Three different merchants (one being Singapore Airlines so not small local sites that I would expect to set off any security warnings). Tried various different cards: visa/mastercard, credit/debit, different banks, over the course of about 48 hours. All failed.

Usually for an unknown transaction, there would be some kind of extra authentication with the bank - a pop up window to enter a OTP or similar - but nothing like this happened. It was like it failed before it passed the request to the bank.

Here's the thing though - this happened consistently on my Chromebook, but when I was able to switch over to a windows laptop (using the Chrome browser and Google Wallet), everything went through. I've also been able to use my Pixel phone to pay for things in IDR.

So - the issue seems to be a setting on my Chromebook. As you can probably tell from the way I've described the issue, I am not in any way an expert. Can anyone suggest where I might look to find the setting that caused these payments to fail?

BTW I am able to make payments on the Chromebook using my home currency no problem.
