US: Restaurants and Car Dealers have alot in common

This is more of an observation than a question, but I am genuinely curious if you agree, disagree, and why or why not.

I've been watching Tomi Mikula's excellent Deliverd Youtube channel, and agree with him that dealer pricing is anything but transparent and straight-forward.

In the US, car franchise laws prevent consumers from buying directly from a manufacturer, and so we have to buy from a dealer, and prices vary wildly.

As a consumer, I don't know how much a server is actually earning, and so I have no idea on whether they are being paid what I would personally consider a fair wage.

Rather than disclose this information, the industry seems to adopt the position of "trust us bro" which reminds me of many of my conversations with car sales people.

Where to buy ODBLink MBB Cable?

Does anyone know where I can buy a OBDLink MBB Spy/diagnostics USB Cable for Zero Motorcycles?

I understand a regular OBD II reader won't work. In about a week, I'm removing the panels to install the 12V adapter to the Sumitomo that Zero sells, and during that install I'm also going to add an OBD II extension cable, for later easy access.

But I haven't been able to find the OBDLink MBB Spy/diagnostics USB Cable for Zero Motorcycles for sale online anywhere, and I'm not quite handy enough to build my own. :)

2021 Zero SR/S Premium (No Power Tank): Where are the front 12V accessory connector and OBD-II port?

I have a 2021 SR/S Premium (no Power Tank) and have two questions:

1. Where is the front 12V accessory connector?

According to the owner's manual, there are two 12V accessory connectors. I've found the rear one under the seat (wrapped in a thick black sleeve), but I can't locate the front one that's supposed to be near the steering head/handlebar area.

Is it accessible without removing body panels, or do the panels have to come off?

My goal is to power a handlebar-mounted phone (MagSafe) and my radar detector from the front accessory connector instead of running both from the USB-A ports in the frunk.

2. Where is the OBD-II port?

I've looked around the frunk, under the seat, and around the steering head, but I haven't been able to find it. I'd like to access battery information (SOC, cell voltages if available, temperatures, fault codes, etc.).

If you're using the OBD-II port:

  • Where exactly is it located?
  • Is it accessible without removing panels?
  • Which OBD adapter and app are you using?

I currently own an OBDLink CX, although I realize it may or may not be compatible with Zero's CAN bus.

Photos or pointers would be greatly appreciated, especially if you've located either the front 12V connector or the OBD port on a 2021 SR/S Premium without the Power Tank.

I've searched the owner's manual and several Facebook and Reddit threads, but I still haven't found a definitive location for either connector on the 2021 SR/S. Before I start removing body panels, I thought I'd ask the community in case there's an easier way.

2002 Toyota Solara SLE Convertible (148k miles) — What Would This Realistically Sell For?

Looking for realistic pricing feedback from people familiar with the used car market.

I’m trying to understand what a 2002 Toyota Solara SLE convertible like this would actually sell for in today’s private-party market.

Details:

• 148,833 miles (daily driven; mileage may increase slightly)
• Clear CA title
• Registration paid through 1/26/27
• Extensive maintenance records and receipts dating back to 2002
• Mostly garage parked and/or kept under a fitted Covercraft Noah cover

Recent maintenance (2025):

• AGM battery
• Struts
• Timing belt
• Water pump
• Alternator

Other details:

• Convertible top replaced in 2020 and works properly
• Rear-view mirror backup camera installed
• Bluetooth audio adapter integrated into factory stereo
• Two working original key fobs, original keys, and valet keys included

Condition:

• Runs and drives well
• All gauges, lights, and turn signals function properly
• Minor cosmetic dings on hood, A-pillar, driver-side door, and rear quarter panel
• Occasionally need to slightly jiggle the key during ignition insertion
• Driver’s seat motor makes a slight noise during adjustment but functions normally

Any realistic input on what this would sell for privately would be appreciated.
