The other side of the river — Cacilhas, Jardim do Rio, and Elevador Boca do Vento

Elevador Boca do Vento in Almada.

I've been exploring more places in Almada lately, Cristo Rei, Casa da Cerca, Jardim do Rio.
There is a elevator from Jardim to Rio, I've tried to take this elevator twice, and it was closed both times for maintenance, and I just saw that it was going to open this week

How to get there?
Ferry from Cais do Sodré to Cacilhas, €1.60. Once you get to Cacilhas, turn right when you exit. Walk 15 minutes along the river and there are good restaurants by the water if you want to stop. You reach Jardim do Rio, a quiet garden right on the Tejo with a direct view of the bridge.

You can stay there and watch the sunset, or take the Elevador Boca do Vento up, it's free.

At the top there's Casa da Cerca, a cultural space with a garden. Good place to sit, see some art, slow down.

I like to bring my sketchbook and draw the view. Going back this week.

places in Lisbon to sit and draw

I like to sit in cafés and draw. Not professionally or anything, just to slow down, drink a coffee, and sketch whatever's around me.

I've lived in Lisbon for 6 years and never visited Cristo Rei. A few weekends ago some friends and I finally went, and we discovered there's a path that takes you from Cristo Rei all the way down to a garden right on the Tejo. It was a fun little adventure. At the end we sat on the grass, had some snacks, and I spent an hour drawing the bridge with the river in front of me.

I'm sharing this because even after 6 years here I'm still finding places like this for the first time.

Do you have any other spots in Lisbon with this kind of vibe? Calm, a bit hidden, good for just sitting and being?
