What are yalls backgrounds?

Found this sub from a post in r/teenagers And while I do consider myself left leaning (I would vote Democrat, but they do have their own problems), it is really interesting to see the other side.

I actually grew up conservative (Iowa born and raised) and I was just wondering, what kind of backgrounds do yall have? What shaped your beliefs? What do yall believe in? Is there anything yall collectively agree on? I've been out of the loop of it for awhile so it would be interesting to see how its changed.

Now, to be clear, I am not hating yall. Everyone has a right to their opinions/beliefs, and who am I to tell you you're wrong. I think that discourse/ discussion is necessary part of democracy, and it sucks seeing the toxic comments yalls posts get. There are extreme people on all sides, and it really tarnishes reputations.

Feel free to ask me any questions yall have! I'll try to get back to this post, but its late at night so we'll see. Thanks!

Edit: Thanks for the discussions yall! Feel free to comment/ share more opinions, but I won't reply to any until tomorrow.

People who 'tolerate' homosexuality might as well just be outwardly homophobic.

I don't understand when or why people saying they "tolerate lgbt became a thing, it's like the ultimate fence sitting position. 90% of the time the people I hear say this are Christians that don't want to be labelled as homophobic but also don't want to go against the homophobes in their community but you simply can't have both.

For example, if I were a white person in the 1800s but I didn't speak up against racism, or do anything against it and just said 'I tolerate black people" would you not have grounds to just call me a racist?

I'm not arguing that every person on Earth needs to become some sort of lgbtq activist waving their flags around but if you engage in a homophobic community and you don't speak up against it and just sit on the fence then it's no different from you being homophobic. You still participate in the homophobic culture even if you are just a bystander.

I will debate you on why sex and gender are the same thing

Title

The only "difference" (alleged) between sex and gender is that gender is who you identify as whereas sex is what actually is the case, objective and grounded in biology

If you are allowed to identify as whoever you want in this category, there is no reason why you cannot for other categories

You could have a homeless guy saying he is a millionaire, and expects to be treated like one.
You could have someone of one skin colour saying they are a different one.
You could have a fat person saying they are in shape.

But it's clearly delusional and absurdity.

Do people really not understand how insensitive what they’re saying is?

I blocked out the users other than me, but the one with 42 likes is a grown man.
