I was going for an 80s US Army kit,
Most of it is original surplus, the only repro being my boots. I plan on getting another 1 qt canteen and switching it with the 2 qt just to be symmetrical. No M16A2 yet, saving up for it still unfortunately.

Its taken 6 months to scrounge everything together but I finally have web gear with everything I want. Not pictured is a compass pouch and a MX-991/U flashlight, because they're too wobbly/heavy if I attach them.
Theres a few things I don't have like a M12 holster or the entrenching tool, the belt doesn't have any more space so I don't think I need them.

The main level had its fair share (a little less than expected, but still alot) and I got all geared up for the hordes that awaited me below, and there's none? I opened a few doors, checked all the floors, shouted, fired a shotgun... and nothing. There also weren't any on the journey over which was definitely wierd.
Its normal pop zombies 2 weeks in, a few mods but nothing pertaining to the zeds themselves. Its free loot ig, I was just spoiling for a fight. Anyone else experience this?
Hi yall, I really like the mechanical side of firearms, and due to my state I cannot buy an AR type rifle. I've heard GBB rifles are the most accurate to the real thing, so I was hoping some of yall could confirm if these are realistic. I've seen that the WE-Techs need to be upgraded to be serviceable in games, but I just want a fancy model to take apart. Is this a good option? Thanks yall!
Yes ik that VFC GBB rifles are the gold standard but they're really hard to find and I don't have that kind of cash lying around.
I was getting bored playing brm5; with everything unlocked, 700k in the bank, and finally concluding I cannot solo MRS loud, there was nothing to do. I decided to make a alt account and start from scratch, to see how far I've come since I started.
Starting out was pretty normal. I was surprised how little 1500 could buy you, but with the free stuff (and a ride from another dude bc I overspent) I was able to kill about half of Quarry before a lucky mortar strike took me out. I was able to afford a jeep and head out to the rest of the map.
Stealthing compounds really gave me a boost in money, and while I splurged on a suppressed glock (as, would you believe it, suppressed M16 is not the best weapon to be making tight close range shots with) I was able to rack up a respectable 5k within a few hours of gameplay.
I decided to get a full auto gun because while I didn't normally need full auto, when I did the 3 round burst was lacking. I was suprised both by the level requirements for guns and the overall price of them. I decided to get the AK-74 as it was the cheapest and I remember liking it alot. I got a bipod and the C79A2 scope (honestly great scope overall if you ignore the wierd reticle) and I was ready to go.
With the AK-74 and the G17, I was able to solo clear Kozlovka, Ronograd City, Depot, and Quarry on a solo server. They're both pretty good guns and the recoil isn't too bad. My biggest hurdle was the fact that I couldn't buy the PVS 14 nvgs, so I was stuck with the PVS 7s, which is really just hot garbage.
I got to level 16 before I decided to call it quits for now. At that point I could start to buy things like Helis or the SAW, but I would've wanted to have proper HQ infrastructure in place before I started using those. It was a fun challenge to play, but I was glad to get my decked out HK416 and hop in my Little Bird.
I highly recommend this challenge to anyone bored and waiting for the new update. My main takeaways are:
Stealthing really is the best way to go, especially if you only have starter weapons. The AR scope on the M16 is really only good for longer engagements, and the M9 isn't the best at CQB.
The jeep is the best car in the game. Its fast, its cheap, you can mount a 50 cal on it. Sure there's no armor, but thats nothing a few bandages can't fix.
I hate the M16 sights. Thats it. No comment.
Bandages and Dressings really make you slow down and think. You can't just spam vitamins and run across a field of fire, you need to strategically know when to run.
I hope yall try this out yourself! Its really fun!
So I want to like this game, but I don't understand the point.
I get that its a heist game, but its really hard to stealth them without watching a guide. And going loud isnt an option bc the enemies just keep coming and I can't fight them solo.
I don't understand the class system and traits, because what do you do? Replay a mission 15 times to rack up skill points?
And there's like 10 missions? So wheres the replayability?
I am sure this game is really cool and I'm just playing it wrong, but please help me out.
I know everyone is bummed now that an update definitely isnt coming till at least August (and probably even longer), so here's some fun challenges to keep you entertained!
Cop Challenge:
Try and clear a POI with only things a cop would use, either a modern cop (M4 with a G17) or a 80s cop (pump shotgun with a revolver). Bonus points: don't use a backpack! Just your main inventory.
MCIHTAWWABLNS Challenge:
Make the dumbest, most over the top loadout (wearing all black of course) and either run it or post it on here! Bonus points: try to get the most "my clan is highly trained.." comments possible.
Hunter Challenge:
Clear a POI with just a bolt action rifle, preferably the Remington 700. Bonus points: Use iron sights only.
Noob Challenge:
Remember where you came from and use the basic beginner loadout. Base M16A2, all M81 Woodland, driving a jeep around. That way you can see how far you've come! Bonus points: no extras, like the cheap nvgs, backpacks, scopes or suppressors.
Medic! Challenge:
This could go two ways, either carry no meds and rely on others to be the medic, or be the medic and heal everyone.
Your Pain is Not Service Related Challenge:
Try to make the heaviest loadout possible, and run that. There's only so many speed penalties!
Metal Gear Solid Challenge:
Clear a compound only using a suppressed pistol. Bonus points: Use the suppressed 1911, or play zombies to unlock it.
John Wick challenge:
Clear a compound loud using either a base M4. M1014, or a suppressed pistol. Bonus points: use only a pistol.
Grenadier Challenge:
Clear a compound with only grenades/ the M320. Don't get too close!
Driving in My Car...... Challenge:
Get yourself a few Grav Brews and go commit Vehicular Manslaughter! Try and kill as many as possible.
Tank Crew Challenge:
Get a stryker and a buddy and be a tank. See how far you can get!

I took a few safety classes and I did much better the 2nd time!
Shooting 22 LR, but still pretty proud.
The first time my leg was shaking really bad so that obviously affected accuracy, and the few outliers on the second were from me firing too quick, but not bad for my third time firing a gun!
Edit: I'm so sorry yall, I know I was shooting a G44 the first time, but I didn't check the 2nd pistol. It was the same size, had 3 dots on the sights, and had some sort of writing near the muzzle, and used a single stack magazine. Upon a little research I think an M&P 22?

Yes I know its been awhile since the last update, and yes I want it to come soon too. But spamming a bunch if "wheres the update?" posts won't make it come any faster.
Please remember:
They are making an entirely new map with completely new mechanics, it will take awhile.
They are not obligated to release updates on a timeline.
They have teased smaller things that'll come SOON. Not tomorrow, soon.
They are probably working around the clock to get this update done, and are stressed as is.
I understand the frustration, but just hold it in until they release the update, ok? It'll be worth the wait guys.
Finally have Alpenflage M83s that fits me. I originally got the pants on the right, but goofed on the measurements and it was about 4 inches wide both ways.
I had to hem the ones on the left to fit me, but its easier than trying to find pants in my exact size.
Does anyone know why the camo is slightly different between the two? The left pair seems a bit more vibrant, and the splotches seem smaller/less blobby. Thanks yall!
Fun fact, you can get 500 rounds of ammo for a PKM in 7.62x54r boxes for a fraction of the weight of 5 magazines. Hope this helps anyone trying to run the PKM!
I just bought some digital night vision for 90$, and while I wasn't expecting quality (actual nvgs like PVS-14s are worth thousands) it left much to be desired.
For context I got the Megaorei NK006 monocular.
My main complaints are:
The 1x magnification isn't really 1x, probably more like 1.5 or even 2x, which I attribute to the back glass being magnified
The IR flashlight is really, REALLY bright. As shown in the pictures it does alright at distance, but anything closer then 15 ft is just pure white.
It is a bit blurry when moving around, but I expected that, digital has latency and stuff.
Does anyone have tips to mitigate these problems? I wasn't expecting much (ik that digital nvgs are just glorified IR flashlights) but this is pretty bad. I would love to get the real things but that is way out of budget for me at the moment. Thanks yall!
Its not a pressing issue, just annoying.
I typically try and clear Mountain Radar Station (MRS) as thats typically not done bc most people head to Rono and Naval. But I always struggle to clear it solo, as normally I run out of ammo and meds, and then get knifed or something. They changed the spawns (I think) so it constantly spawns new enemies to reach around 40 at any given time, which typically leads to me being pinned down in the bunker bc I shoot enemies and new ones immediately take their place.
My 2 routes: Land heli near main building (to the south) and clear it out and down the stairs. Kill the ones bunched up at the entrance, and slowly make my way to the first VIP, watching my back for reinforcements. Kill the VIP, but then get stuck at the tunnel that leads out to the north building, as theres spawns in front and right behind that corner.
Land heli at the north building, clear it and kill VIP. Camp at the front door and pick off the MG turrets and snipers, then mad dash to the bunker entrance, and pick off the enemies in the tunnel. If I'm lucky I'll get to the next VIP, but then get stuck in the backroom/tunnel of the radar room.
I've been switching up guns constantly trying to find the right mix of power and ammo weight/capacity. I've ran the SAW, HK416, M4A1, L85A2, Scar-l, M1014, MP5, and P90. Its really an issue of ammo, as I almost always run out due to constant burst fire and tap shots. Meds, while I am running out of them constantly, are technically a "skill issue". My best results have been with the MP5 and HK416, but again, I blow through ammo like crazy.
Any tips?
So far my loadout goals are:
Meds- 15x bandages and dressings, 6-9 vitamins
350+ total rounds of ammo, more the merrier
Less than 18kgs, as I need to quickly get to cover if they spawn behind me
Grenades? Haven't really been helpful due to enemies being 25m+ away (maybe my M320?)
And yes I am asking for loud raid tips, I dont have the patience to spawn, die, spawn trying to find the perfect timing and route for stealthing.

Hi yall, I finally have all my stuff in order so I can buy a rifle, but I have a problem. I want to get a Mauser variant (specifically VZ. 24s or Yugo M48s) but they typically shot corrosive ammo, so checking the bore/barrel conditions is imperative.
However, common sense and gun safety tells me that looking down the barrel of a firearm is a great way to hurt yourself/get kicked out of the store.
So how can I safely and respectfully check the barrel? Do I take a photo? Ask an employee? I just don't want to seem like an idiot in a place where there should absolutely be no idiots. Thanks yall!

I was going to make a post explaining why the PKM is a good weapon and why it deserved a buff, because I assumed they nerfed it to be similar to the SAW. However, upon further research, the PKM is pretty accurate to real life but they need to buff the SAW.
Compared to the real M249 SAW, the in game one is terrible. It has a much lower rate of fire (725 instead of 850), lower muzzle velocity with the 18 in barrel (856 m/s instead of 915 m/s) and a much lower effective range (523 meters instead of 700m meters, with the 18 in barrel). The only thing its got going for it is that its lighter than the IRL version (18lbs instead of 22lbs while fully loaded). There's also the fact that the unit price of an M249 is $4,087 USD, while the in game one is $12,249, but I can attribute that to it being sold to mercenaries/balance reasons.
Yes, I understand there's "balance" and "think about the pvp players" but the SAW could really benefit from a buff. Even just a more realistic range would really give the SAW the boost it needs, and that wouldn't affect pvp players.
Also both of them could use recoil buffs, as a 20 lbs guns should have waaay less recoil than a regular rifle firing the same/similar cartridge.

Hi yall, I just got my long gun certification in Connecticut and want to get my first rifle. Any good recommendations?

I love historical rifles so milsurp is definitely on the table
I know guns are expensive, but right now my budget is less than 800 bucks
Some ones I've been interested in so far are Czech Vz.24s (and Yugo M48s), M1 Carbines, Springfield Trapdoor rifles, Ruger Mini-14s (as if I have the cash for one of those), or a Ruger American/ Remington Model 700 for a more modern rifle.

Edit: Sorry, I should've said what I want it for! I want a rifle to take to the range and shoot, and hopefully work on getting pretty accurate with it. No self defense purpose (even if I wanted one for that reason, CT laws are pretty stringent on when force can be used).
