Transform Each - Absolute scale in Adobe Illustrator

Hey everyone, Luke from Adobe here.

Quick demo here highlighting the difference between Relative and Absolute scale inside Transform Each.

With Relative mode you could only scale objects in relation to the selected object, but now with Absolute mode you can scale everything to the defined amount, even if they are all at different sizes.

Is this one of those features you could see yourself making use of?

Blend Tool upgrade is out of beta and available in Illustrator now!

Hey everyone, Luke from Adobe here.

I wanted to share that the upgraded Blend Tool is officially out of beta and available in the latest version of Illustrator.

If you've used Blends before, you'll know the workflow wasn't exactly the most streamlined. The new Blend Panel brings everything together in one place, with live feedback directly on the artboard as you make adjustments.

The highlights:

  • Dedicated Blend Panel – Create and edit Blends without jumping back and forth through menus.
  • Independent spacing and color – Blend steps and color transitions are no longer tied together.
  • Easing controls – Control how objects cluster or spread throughout the Blend.
  • Color Acceleration – Speed up or slow down color transitions independently of object spacing.

If you've used the Blend Tool before, I'd love to hear what you think of the changes. And if you've avoided it because of the old workflow, does this make you more likely to give it another try?

There are plans for further additions to the Blend Tool, so we will be joined by the Illustrator team for a Q&A in a couple of weeks to hear your feedback and suggestions after you have had some time to test it out.

Auto-find missing links in Adobe Illustrator

Hey everyone, Luke from Adobe here.

Amongst the list of requests in one of my recent threads, I saw this one come up so I wanted to share the update that is now live in the latest beta.

When relinking a missing linked file in Illustrator, there is now the option to select 'Auto find missing links from this folder' so you can automatically relink the document's other missing links where the file names match files in the same folder.

How to Use:

In the Links panel, relink a missing image, select the replacement file, then pick 'Auto find missing links from this folder' from the Replace dropdown.

Text effects in Adobe Illustrator - Free download

Hey everyone, Luke from Adobe here.

A few months ago I posted about Pucker & Bloat, and since then I have been playing around with it here and there, so I figured I would put together a little demo that shows how to get more out of it when mixing it with other effects like Zig Zag and Roughen. If you want to play around with it yourself, you can download the Illustrator file with all the examples you can see on the last slide, and pick them apart and experiment yourself.

If you have any questions, please to let me know. I will be aiming to put out some more free files for you to tinker with if you are interested.

What does collaboration look like in your design workflows?

Hi everyone, my name is Luke and I work on the Adobe community team. If you've ever spent time over in r/AdobeIllustrator, there's a good chance we've crossed paths.

I wanted to reach out to the broader graphic design community because I'm always trying to better understand how creative work is evolving. One area I'm particularly interested in right now is collaboration, and what that actually looks like today across different roles, teams, and creative workflows.

I'd love to hear what comes to mind when you think about collaboration in your day-to-day work. Whether you're an in-house designer, freelancer, agency creative, illustrator, production artist, or somewhere else entirely, I'm keen to learn more about how you work with other people and how that's changed over the last few years.

Some quick ones to kick off the discussion:

  • Who do you collaborate with most throughout a project?
  • Has the way you collaborate changed recently?
  • What tools or systems are essential to your workflow?
  • Where do you experience the most friction or wasted time?
  • Are clients and stakeholders getting involved at different stages than they used to?
  • Is there anything you wish creative tools did better to support collaboration?

I really appreciate anyone willing to share their workflow or thoughts.

Remove Background in Illustrator

Hey everyone, Luke from Adobe here. Wanted to share a quick demo, highlighting you can now remove the background of your images directly inside Illustrator. The output creates an embedded copy of your original file.

Do you see this helping reduce some of the back and forth between Photoshop and Illustrator for certain workflows?

What do you want to see in Illustrator?

Hey everyone, Luke from Adobe here. I know we chat about all things Illustrator all the time, but I will be meeting with our Pro Design team (Illustrator, InDesign, Neo, and XD) this week to discuss plans and strategies for the next year. I have my list of what I see the community asking for, but it's always great to have more data backing up those recommendations.

Whether it's something simple, something major, a better way to collaborate, better user experience? Whatever it is, drop it below.

Appreciate your input as always

What do you think about Illustrators Content Libraries?

Hey everyone, Luke from Adobe here.

I am hoping to get your thoughts on Illustrators Content Libraries (Swatches, Brushes, Symbols, Graphic Styles, and Gradients).

I'm curious how they're working for you and if you actively use them.

A few questions to get the conversation started:

  • Which of these do you use regularly, and which do you almost never touch?
  • Are there any that feel outdated or overdue for an overhaul?
  • Do you build and save your own libraries, or mostly stick with what's included?
  • Is there anything that feels harder than it should be when organizing, searching, sharing, or reusing assets?
  • If you could improve just one of these panels, what would you change?

Interested to hear both the pain points, and what you thinks works well. Real workflow examples are always helpful too.

Thanks

Illustrator Quick tip - Duplicate shapes with the (~) key

Hi everyone, Luke from Adobe. Thought I would share a quick tip of something I only discovered recently myself. You can use the Tilde Key (~) to duplicate while drawing with tools such as Rectangle, Ellipse, Line, Spiral etc.

Hold the ~ (tilde) key as you drag to continuously duplicate the shape as you draw. Hold Shift down to keep things tight or get loose with the movement. Useful for creating abstract forms and decorative patterns.

Adobe Illustrator Field Notes

Hi everyone, Luke from Adobe here. I hear a common frustration around finding helpful learning resources for Illustrator, without having to dig through different social media accounts and learning platforms, so I put together something I am calling Adobe Illustrator Field Notes.

My goal is to build something that offers bite size bits of information, with links to further details if you need it. I am building it inside Firefly Boards, because it has an infinite canvas where I can add links and videos, and simply re-publish, so the link will always remain active.

This will continue to update and evolve over time, and I am keen to hear the kinds of things you would like to see included.

Some free files to download which I will continue to add to over time.

You can save a copy and edit the Board to make your own hub for any kind of helpful resources.

This is just the first step, but hopefully you can find it helpful.

Adobe Illustrator AI Assistant (beta)

Hey everyone, Luke from Adobe here.

The new AI Assistant has just launched in Illustrator beta and I wanted to share a quick overview of what it is and what it's designed to help with.

The Assistant isn't built to handle creative decision making, but rather it's focused around those tedious, repetitive production tasks. It can analyze the Illustrator document you have open and help with things like organizing files, updating content, preparing exports, running production checks, and simply answering questions you have about features and tools inside the app.

If you'd like to learn more about what it can do, supported workflows, known limitations, and tips for getting the best results, check out the HelpX link.

As always, I am keen to hear your thoughts, and how you could see this fitting in your workflow.

Download the latest beta and give it a go.

Let's talk about default font and size in Illustrator

Hey everyone, Luke from Adobe here. Another quick one for ya. I know there is a complex workaround to set a default font in Illustrator, but given the option to make this more accessible, is it something you care about and would actually use?

See how your feedback is impacting Illustrator

Hey everyone Luke from Adobe here. I am usually in here asking for your feedback on all types of features and tools - how you work with them, and how you want them improved.

Now there is a new site to see how your feedback is shaping what is happening inside the tools. It’s a running list of recent updates across Adobe tools that came directly from customer input.

Below are just some of the latest updates for Illustrator driven by community feedback.

  • Align Center
  • Import SVG to After Effects
  • 60fps live editing
  • Enhanced Font Browser
  • Smart File Naming

I have some from our conversations, that I am excited to see added to this list soon, so thanks to everyone here who contributes their feedback and comments towards the improvement of Illustrator.

OK, let's talk about the Free Distort panel.

Hey everyone, Luke from Adobe here. I know the Free Distort panel comes up frequently in conversations about the type of feature in desperate need of an update, and you won't hear me argue that this doesn't, but I want to get all of your thoughts in one place. Please drop all your ideas below and let's talk about it.

Join the Illustrator Agentic Private Beta.

Hi everyone, Luke from Adobe again. The team is looking for contributors to the private beta, exploring how assistive AI could handle repetitive tasks and streamline workflows inside Illustrator.

We hear suggestions like (re)naming layers, duplicating art boards, prepping files for export, but we know there are a lot of various and specific workflows out there, that could benefit from an assistive agent.

If you are interested in sharing feedback directly with the team, please fill out this survey to apply.

What’s New in the latest Illustrator release

Hey everyone, Luke from Adobe here with details about what's new inside the latest version of Illustrator, available now.

Concept to Vector

You can turn your rough sketches and low-res images, into editable vector artwork. With comparisons to Image Trace, which requires high quality inputs and recreates exactly what you feed into it, Concept to Vector uses AI to interpret structure and generate a cleaner starting point for refinement.

You can enter a prompt, choose from suggested prompts or leave it blank.

  • When generating without a prompt, if the input is a sketch, the output will be a cleaner, refined version of the sketch, whereas if the input is an image, the output will be a stylized version of the image.
  • Using the Line Art sample prompt generates stroke-based artwork in the output.

Adjust the Match Reference Image slider to adhere More to your original input, or Less to add further interpretation.

You also have the option to output raster images.

Improvements to Gen Alt-Text in the latest InDesign release

Hey everyone, Luke from Adobe here. I wanted to share an update the team has been working on regrading AI-generated Alt Text.

We built the Alt Text feature in InDesign to make accessibility a natural part of your workflow, and since its launch in late January this year, we heard from the community about improvements you wanted to see. These centered around the quality of the generations, and the need for admin control, which is particularly critical for enterprise, regulated or production environments, where every piece of content must be reviewed and approved.

Details below will highlight some of the improvements we are making to address these concerns, now available in the latest InDesign release.

User Control:

  • We understand that in many environments, especially corporate and regulated industries, content cannot be introduced into a document without review and approval. For enterprise customers, we are introducing the ability for admins to enable or disable auto-generated alt text via the Admin Console, available starting June 2026.
  • For all InDesign users, automatic alt text generation can be turned off in preferences:
    • Windows: Edit > Preferences > Generative AI
    • Mac: InDesign > Preferences > Generative AI

This ensures that users and organizations can choose the level of automation that best fits their workflow.

Transparency:

We have also heard clearly that users want visibility into AI-generated content. Therefore, we added the “Description generated by AI” tag to make it clear what content is AI-generated so it can be validated appropriately. Users also have the option to turn this label off in Preferences.

Quality: Improving quality remains a top priority for us.

  • We are upgrading the underlying AI model to GPT 4.1 for more accurate and contextually relevant alt text generations. This update will be available in InDesign 21.4 starting June 2026.
  • In addition, users can regenerate alt text for the same image or for the edited image, giving designers more flexibility to refine results to meet their standards.

We know there is always room for improvements and the community’s input is critical to that, so as always please keep your suggestions coming.
