PDF Export at 10x smaller size than artboard size?

Hi guys,

I'm still learning Illustrator and have hit a snag. I have a document for a client that's inner graphics for a cabin, so large scale print, set over 10 artboards, height of 239cm and varying width of the artboards. Now when I export it, or save as AI PDF it continuously saves them as e.g 2,39cm (10x smaller) - the artboard sizes in the document are still correct, the graphics are vector so they're scalable. I've tried having Gemini walk me through the issue but it's next solution is to increase my artboard sizes by 10x and I'm not convinced that's the correct solution. The document also exported way faster than it should if it were exporting in the correct size. Any advice?

How to convert compound paths to one single line stroke/path?

These are the icons I'm working with, they are in the compound path and I couldn't turn them into a single stroke line to animate as trimpaths in after effects. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

4 different styles of portrait work

hello. I had to make the second one using brushes in Photoshop, so it isn’t vector-based.

Are they vibe-coding now? RAM usage out of control!! (Illustrator, Photoshop, Mac)

(see my specs at bottom)

I currently have both Illustrator and Photoshop open on my M1 Macbook, both just idling without any docs open. Photoshop is using 15gb of RAM, Illustrator is using 6gb, and AIRobin is using 5gb. This is NUTS! I'm not sure when it started, I think maybe a few updates ago, but this is really out of hand. It wasn't that long ago that I could easily have Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator all open at the same time, with fairly complex docs, and my system would hardly break a sweat.

It's bad enough that as a professional designer, I'm pretty much locked into paying rent to Adobe for the rest of my working life. But now they are continuing to jam gimmicky AI features into every update while simultaneously degrading their actual products. I'm convinced they've just started vibe-coding this stuff. "Does a text change in a packaging design file make my (32gb of RAM) laptop sound like jet engine? Sure, but at least now I can rotate this doodle!"

Anyone else dealing with this and/or have a solution? I've tried all the normal troubleshooting steps, please please do not tell me to reset prefs or reinstall. But let me know if a previous version is confirmed more stable!

My specs:
2021 M1 Macbook Pro, 32gb RAM, Sequoia 15.7.7
Illustrator 30.4, Photoshop 27.5, Indesign 21.3

Weird line in all documents

HELP

I just made an errant key stroke and now this line shows up in EVERY document. Qualities:

- cannot move, adjust, or select

- doesn't appear to be on a layer

- is visible in color in outline mode

- appears thick when zoomed out and thin when zoomed in

- changes color depending on what layer I'm in

The last bit feels important. It makes me feel like its a layer menu issue.

In the image above the text is 12pt Myriad Pro Regular - just for size reference.

Any ideas?

Dev needs a Designers Help

Hey guys.

I am a dev and typical new wave boss, is expecting me to now be a designer and "just use ai". I have told them its more of a skill..blah blah.. anyway.

Basically design is not my forte, and even asking AI to walk me through with Vectorpea or inkscape... is useless. I am trying to draw this or a version of this as a vector. Could some one let me know the easiest way to replicate it.

Just want it in black initially and be able to change the colour and maybe make moderate edits to it when needed. Such as the line around the outside is too thin, and i may have to adjust that.

Basically, as you can tell ... I am not a designer

Any advice welcome.. thanks all

Regards

An unhappy dev

Perfect grain and shading

Hiya. I recently stumbled upon a designer (@eliasjprado) on Instagram who makes amazing letters, with perfect shading - and it's all done in Illustrator. I've worked with Illustrator for a long time now, but never really got the hang of using shading and grain in it. What would be a good way to recreate this?

Anybody have a catalogue of all the "cover" arts?

I really love this image that pops up when you open illustrator. Anybody have a collection of every image adobe has used for this?

Vintage Text Effects- Need Help

Good day! I am trying to replicate what is being instructed in this video:

https://youtu.be/txSkCvl8c14?si=Ge5kSK_ymbm8Us74

Here are my issues that I tried for two hours trying to figure out since I am on AI 2026 and I am unsure of controls have changed a lot since 6 years ago?

- He states to right click the text and select "create outlines" (Time in Video: 7:35). When I do, it doesn't give the dotted formation seen in this video. It just shows a box around the text.

-He selects the text>object>path>offsetpath and changes the offset px. I didn't do exactly to his thickness in the video, because on my screen, it looked like there was barely in black as the outline so I went thicker (4 px).

-He proceeds to ungroup them, which I also did to my text, and then he states to select all the fonts. (Time in video 8:12) When I try to select using either control, shift, etc. it doesn't allow me to click more than one letter. How do I accomplish this? I tried single letter selection and manually changing the next steps, but it didn't work.

-He selects white color, but doesn't click on the color palette to be able to change it to white quickly. Is there a shortcut key for this?

-Next in video time, 8:23, he states to go to pathfinder, and "combine them". I did this, and the black completely dissapeared for several tries. Eventually, I tried one letter at a time to keep the white inside the black, but when I would try the "combining" it would disappear.

-In 8:35 he discusses strobe color. I have attempted this as well, and the only was I was able to do it was doing each letter individually, BUT when I go to the next step, it clearly doesn't work that way.

(Doing this in Windows)

I have been away from Adobe software for many years, and recently wanted to create a logo on my own without having to pay someone. I thought this would have been very clear and to the point, but in the video he talks relatively fast and I can't see what controls he is doing, also the software I have looks quite different from the video since it's almost 6 years ago. If someone can give me a break down, I would greatly appreciate your help! :)
