How I read the guidelines for AMC mcq

One mistake I see often during AMC preparation is trying to read every guideline from start to finish.

You usually don’t need to.
Instead, when you study a topic, make a quick revision box at the end of your notes:

🔹 Diagnostic criteria
🔹 First-line investigations
🔹 First-line management
🔹 Red flags 🚩
🔹 Follow-up
🔹 Screening recommendations

Then use recalls to guide what you read. If a topic keeps appearing in recalls, go back to the relevant Australian guideline and extract the key points.

The goal was never to finish the entire guildlines.

Looking for a mechanical/3D design student or freelancer for a medical-device prototype in India (Tamilnadu for easy communication and reach)

Hi everyone,

Myself doctor working on an so called medical device related to ultrasound-guided vascular access. Something looks simple yet complicated a bit at practical level.. Atleast for the newbies.

I’m looking for someone with mechanical design or CAD or more of 3D-printing skills who can help convert my rough concept into a functional 3D-printable prototype.

The first version is relatively simple:

  • Adjustable forearm-mounted mechanism
  • Holds an existing linear ultrasound probe
  • Fine X/Y/Z adjustment
  • Controlled/compliant probe pressure
  • Mechanical locking without compressing the underlying vein

I’m looking for someone who is:

  • A mechanical/product design student, engineer or freelancer
  • Comfortable with Fusion 360 / SolidWorks / similar CAD

Tamil Nadu / South India preferred, but remote is completely fine.

This is an early-stage project, so the initial budget is minimal, but I’m happy to discuss a reasonable payment based on the work. If the prototype develops further, there may be scope for continued involvement.

If interested, DM me with your CAD/3D-printing experience and a portfolio of your work.

I can share the concept sketch and explain the clinical problem privately.

Thanks!

Before all that AMC knowledge evaporates 😂

If you’re preparing for AMC… mahnn you know the grind.

Months of studying, revising, making notes… only to forget half of it when you actually need it. 🫠

So I thought that before my own AMC knowledge disappears completely might as well give some of it back. 😄

I’m running 20 days of focused AMC revision from September 1–20.

You can join the whole revision run or just join the topics you need.

Keeping it small (10 slots only) so there’s enough time for discussion and doubts. [2/10 already filled.]

If your in the middle of AMC prep and feeling overwhelmed.. just keep going gets clearer with every question.

Rooting for all of you. 🫶 NO SELF PROMOTION MEANT.

If you’re interested, DM me before August 20.

First Baby Step Down!

What started as a conversation about moving abroad as an IMG has finally reached its first major milestone.

Like many doctors, I spent a long time confused between pursuing postgraduate training in India and exploring opportunities abroad. There was uncertainty and hesitation but honestly, I wasn't always sure if this path was meant for me. But with time small steps became bigger ones. The support and encouragement from friends and family kept growing and so did my confidence to keep moving forward.

Today, I'm happy to share that I have passed the AMC MCQ Examination. It might be the first step in the Australian medical pathway, but a step that I am proud of. Next comes the AMC Clinical Examination, and in the meantime, I'll be exploring RMO/SHO opportunities in Australia. Grateful for everyone who has supported me so far, and looking forward to what comes next.
