Pediatrician told me not to follow solid starts preparation recommendations

Pediatrician said that she has seen too many babies choke from recommended preparations shown on the solidstarts website. She suggested I cut food smaller than his windpipe which is apparently the width of a pinky finger. I mentioned he wouldn't be able to help himself eat and she said he could work on his pincer grasp. He's not quite there yet so now I'm finding that I'm just feeding him with a spoon or my hand. Anyone else have success starting off by feeding your baby by hand or spoon and them taking it over when they master the pincer? Anyone else's Pediatrician recommended against solid starts?

Help with wearables

Could really use some tips for pumping with wearables. I have the Ameda GLO and I struggle hard to pump what my 6mo is going to drink the next day. I typically pump between 3-5 oz per session but most often on the lower end of that range. The thing is I can't figure out what I am doing differently when I am getting those higher output sessions. I usually just put it on automatic mode and pump for 15 minutes or so, but I've tried letting it run for longer (doesn't seem to make a difference). I don't ever seem to get a second letdown. Any tips?
