Instax Pal and Kodak Charmera

It seems that, in Japan at least, the Instax Pal has not been a successful product and some places are now offering it for only a few dollars more than the Kodak Charmera. Which one would you get if they were the same price?

Trying to open a battery compartment. Any ideas?

So far I've tried using my fingernails, a key, a small screwdriver, a smaller screwdriver, a bottle opener, the back end of a spoon, a different key, the tip of an antique spear, a Diet Coke can ring pull, a coat hanger, a butter knife, my front tooth, the sharp side of a beanbag chair, a six-foot pry bar, a broken retainer found on the floor of a Taco Bell, part of the window-winding mechanism from an AMC Pacer and the pendulum from a cursed clock.

If I had a nickel for every time I had this problem...

A camera with the power to piss people off

You may think that the Canon T50 is a simple, plastic camera from the 1980's, but it hides within it the power to piss off serious photographers of every persuasion. Post about it in your average photography subreddit and you'll either get downvoted or ignored entirely, mention the camera in an existing post and you'll get backlash that is in no way warranted. Bring it up at a formal dinner and you'll probably get shanked.

Why is this little camera so divisive? Who knows, it's just a plastic box to hang a lens off of, but you can have hours of fun fucking off serious camera types just by hinting that it's as good as any other camera, including anything made by Leica, which it is. Try it for yourself and then run for cover!

Can anyone tell me if the stated maximum flash trigger voltages for cameras from specific companies are more guidelines or hard and fast rules? For example, later Canon SLRs are said to be able to take 6V but I recently bought an old Sunpak ring flash which I tested at around 6.7V and am wondering if I can use it on a Canon EOS 55.

My backup choice is a Pentax body, as apparently Pentax SLRs can take higher voltages.
