Thanks to this sub for helping me fix my bot post problem. Comment and post karma requirements have alleviated the situation. The issue now is that I have some new sub members who keep getting posts and comments auto removed. These are people I know and interact with personally and know they aren't bots. I've told them to just post on the main subs and get karma up but these guys are old school and struggling apparently. I thought making someone an approved user would help but 8 can't see that it does anything. Is there a way around this without getting rid of the karma requirements?
I've seen people use things like bike jacks (for working on bicycles) but they don't seem like they would be stable and stand up to techniques that displace and redirect a blade. The device in the pic is from an Arnis guy and you can mount it and it has a spring that allows for manipulation. It looks pretty simple but I'm not sure where he got it. Anyone have any suggestions?
Here's a quick review I threw together after getting asked about these from a bunch of people. I mainly go over the issues I've had with the tornado arms and added a few clips at the end so people can see them in use.
The tldr is the arms are a little tricky to set up and there are some limitations to how you can use them. Some of those limitations are inherent to tornado arms in general and some are limitations of these first Gen arms from LongGlory specifically. They still work fine but aren't going to be as smooth as a dedicated functional trainer.
I'd still rather have them then not. If you're in the fence they are a relatively cheap option to add and I've known some people who have gotten the tornado arms and the regular trolleys just in case the tornado arms don't suit their needs.
Here's a Bulgarian split squat finisher I did today on my rack. You can see the Smith is smooth and solid AF. The leg roller attachment works great in the spotter arms. It does come with brackets and pins to attach to the 3x3 uprights but the brackets don't have UHMW pads like the j hooks and spotter arms do so it would likely scratch up the rack. Using the rack would also place the roller too close to the Smith machine but the spotter arms have some adjustability. I use the same setup for lat pulldowns to restrain my legs.
[Alibaba Gym and Fitness Equipment Sales and Reviews](https://www.facebook.com/share/g/14iwvtGkJMC/) is an FB group with a lot of knowledge when it comes to ordering gym equipment from Alibaba. They have prefilled templates for ordering all in one racks to help make the process easier. I think a guy even made an app to help sort though it all. They regularly communicate and work with reps from Alibaba companies. Best I can tell they offer non biased feedback on products and companies. Right now they are putting in a bulk order on the leg press LINEAR ROW in the pick. They are a great resource for the home gym community.
Does anyone have any recommendations for rapier part sellers? Purple heart has some pommels, Zen has some grips and pommels as well. The main issue in having is finding rectangular hole grips to fit over the blade tang. Zen doesn't show pics of the opening on most of their grips.
For those curious why; I currently have a cheap HF rapier. It was the one that came with a musketeer blade. It has a modified VB diamond blade that I fit to it last minute for a comp that didn't allow musketeer blades. I'm planning on upgrading with my local club who will be doing a group order soon but in the mean time I'm looking to see if I can improve my current setup.
Has anyone ordered from US based company Alchem Inc? I stumbled across them digging through old posts when I was looking for US based sellers. There is a message on their home page that the store is temporarily closed but it also says they have left daggers and crossbow pages up which send like they are full follow orders on them? They also still have rapiers listed too. I'm hesitant to order if they are down. I emailed them and got no reply and no answer from the phone number listed and voice mailbox is full. Looking at their stuff though it's quite reasonable based on where i can see.
Does anyone know any other US based sellers for rapier and sidesword that are affordable? Castille is a bit pricey. Darkwood isn't bad but with the guy's latest political rant I'm not super enthusiastic about supporting them. I also stumbled on Bunishermaw they appear to have affordable blades but they are down at the moment too. I did exchange a few emails that said they will be up soon but I'm not sure how long that will be and they stopped responding when I asked about planning an order. Sellers like Purple heart are out of stock on everything.
Brisket on the 500! It was a hit. It's been a while since I've done brisket so I was a little unsure how it would turn out. I started it around 8 last night and it finished around 10 today with a 6 hour hot hold.
Here's a finisher I did today with weighted dips. I'm not sure if you could rig something up with regular cable trolleys but this was quick and easy to setup. I'm curious what other excuses exercises people have come up with on their all in one racks.
I've seen a couple of smaller US based sword makers like Manticore Forge, Bunishermaw, and ZenwarriorArmory. They seem to offer pretty affordable swords and the reviews I've seen on some items have been good. Does anyone know any other places they'd recommend? What are your thoughts on sellers like this?
This was a quick 4 hour cook for me on my MB800. I had a busy day but still managed to squeeze in some good BBQ and have some very happy guests. Party ribs, Picanha, air fried wings-for the weirdos that didn't want smoked meat (my air fried wings are top tier but this batch was mid bc I was focused elsewhere). For sides corn on the cob and watcha got beans (the superior bean side), jalapeno poppers. Banana pudding for dessert. Also the most masculine and hetero beer to ever exist!
