I started shipping them because their personalities clash in a way that could create a really interesting dynamic. The Hood is secretive, ambitious, defensive and constantly hiding behind power, while Mantis is gentle, emotionally perceptive and almost impossible to lie to. She would immediately sense all the fear and insecurity beneath his confidence, which would probably annoy him more than any hero ever could.
I imagine them starting as reluctant allies because Mantis realizes the dark magic connected to the Hood is influencing him. She stays close to investigate it, while he keeps insisting he does not need her help. Over time, she becomes one of the only people he cannot manipulate, and he becomes strangely comforting to her because his emotions are messy, intense and completely familiar.

Ship name suggestions are welcome because I am currently emotionally invested in this.
