Let's say I am in a private game group. I'd want one small fraction of my friends list (friends 3) set to orange, "In Private Game Group, Ask if you want to be my +1" One to orange, "In Private game group, might take time to reply" Everyone else to red, "In private game group"......

Or if I am semi-afk watching youtube videos or something while doing a game in vrc... Green to one friends list "Semi-Afk, but around, might take a sec to wake" Orange to most "Semi-afk watching YT and housework"......

Or I might just not want to deal with certain people that day, but not remove them as a friend, and be set up orange or red to that list while being green or orange with everyone else.....

There are tons of occasions where I really want to be different status or level to different people and that feature would be one that I would pay for.

Hi folks! just posting as I'm curious about a sort of grey area here.

I normally have OBS running in the background when I play VRChat mainly for funny moments with friends, or if someone is bothering us, I normally send the recording in as evidence in a VRChat report.

I don't post it on any social media or TikTok or whatever, and most of it is shared in friends Discords or to VRChat or group admins (incase of incidents)

I recently got banned from a group for recording in their group public instance, the group has known me for a while, and I've even clipped some incidents of trolls/people being asshats and sent it to their staff as evidence for their records etc and nobody has mentioned or claimed to have a problem, even thanked me for getting it on camera.

I had a little argument with one of their staff who said "I hate that you record it makes people nervous" explained to him I only do it for me and the other things above, and he was getting super upset about it. I explained to him also that VRChats own report helpdesk asks for any video evidence of incidents, plus any time I've heard any issues brought up with people, the first question is "Any evidence? got a video?"

I was advised by someone a while ago to keep OBS handy just incase there is an incident of a crasher/someone spamming N-word etc in an instance, and report them with the evidence. I don't go around yelling "hey im recording" and I rarely end up clipping anything but if someone crashes the place or is being absolutely horrible to everyone, is it not handy to have it recorded and reported? I normally just block unless its stuff like someone bragging about doxxing other people, gang monkey stuff or as user threatening someone or worse.

I'm just curious on everyone's thoughts on it? I'm a little conflicted a bit on if its the good or bad thing to do

Edit TL:DL - Is recording bad if it's being used to clip malicious behavior for VRC report purposes?

For me personally, the most disturbing thing I SAW in vrchat wasn't really too bad in terms of what I've already seen but it was some dumbass throwing around stickers of femboy rule34 and a femboy getting buttf_cked. But for things I've witnessed because of VRchat is one of ma friends I met in an instance two months ago be discovered to be a Pedophile who groomed a 14 year old boy 🥹

I spend like, 6 hours making an avatar since I couldn't find a "normal" one for me. Then I set up a tts thing so I don't have to use my real mic.

And then I jumped on a "real" server, a VR boxing game, and got promptly washed by my nerves. Nothing happened, just sat around, watching people box each other, makin jokes, watchin the fight. But I didn't say a damn word. I just sat there, wanting to join but to afraid to. Just so... nervous? Afraid to bother them? Afraid to open myself up? Afraid if I make a fool of myself? Logically theres no reason to care. If they're assholes, I'll just leave, or block em, or take the headset off, whatever. But the action of putting myself in that situation physically makes me freeze. I can't force it at all.

It's like that at my irl job too. I don't say JACK when I am around people I don't trust, and I would never make the first move unless I need them for something. (like HR or a manager)

I just don't know what to do. I actually enjoy being a wallflower, enjoying the vibe. But that doesn't feel... right? for this kind of game. I wouldn't even mind playing solo worlds, but that also feels like I'm playing the game wrong. Maybe I shouldn't play? But I also REALLY want to.

Maybe somethin to talk to a professional about, but I thought VR chat might've been my way to ease myself into it. But even as an avatar, even with a million ways to escape at my disposal, I can't get myself to do it.

That's even without assholes and children online I don't wanna listen to. But I can just find a new instance if I want that.

I dunno. Mostly a short rant. Maybe offer any tips if you guys understand?

EDIT: After thinking about it quite a bit, I think i'll just focus on joining worlds, not worry about chatting and staying silent, until someone approaches me. Maybe even just talk to myself while bowling solo or somethin idk. Then that way I get acclimatized to the worlds, learn the rules, and overall attempt to relax. If you guys know any good worlds to join that I can play solo but be AROUND people (like bowling, my own lane but with plenty of other people around me) then that way I can be in the space, but not worry about bothering/joining people. I am also checking the vrchat calendar for events to join, cause maybe it'll have something I can relate to others to, or even attempt to learn something idk.

i recently turned 18 but im lowk a chud and a good bit of events got in my way of driving so all i got now is my permit. I want to verify my age but all i have is a permit and everything im seeing is saying "generally no" and i just want either a yes or a no.

Recently, I've had a very consistent issue: ALL videos, even from websites outside of YouTube, say "this video is no longer available / is blocked in your region", and it's made me unable to watch movies with my friends now that I FINALLY have a headset. I just wanna have movie nights with friends, is there any way to fix this? I have untrusted URLs turned on

im looking to get a model made for myself, preferably that can work both as a vrchat avatar and for v-tubing, anyone know someone who can do that?

so im trying to upload an avatar (Rexouium v007+_latest) and been running into some issues. All of its fx are vrcFury scripts. looking further into it, i guess its "auto fixing" the write defaults to "on" because the majority of them are on. due to everything basically using the vrc fury script, i have no idea as to how to have select write defaults off. the fx's write defaults are set to off, but once you hit play, it loads up the vrc fury verson of the avi and it turns itself on again.

(im doing all this to install an asset called VRCblocks. basically minecraft in vrchat)

So, I am wanting to verify that I am 26 and I’ve seen some horror stories about using Persona, I don’t want my address and shit kept by a third party so what do I do? I’m fed up with having to play games with kids who shouldn’t even be on the game to start with
