I (16F) broke up with my ex (17M) a couple months ago because I wasn't ready for a relationship, but I miss him. How do I handle this?
This would be my first reddit post so apologies if it's a little wonky. For context, both me and my ex, I will call him Jack, are still in high school. I have known him since elementary, but I haven't had the chance to actually get to know him until about a year ago. A mutual friend introduced us and we started dating a couple months ago, but during this time I felt a horrible sense of inferiority, like I wasn't good enough for him. He never did anything that made me feel like this. He's a big guy but he's so nice (almost too nice), cute, funny, so smart, and I realized that I wasn't ready for a relationship. It sounds kinda cliché, but I knew I had to like myself better before I could like anyone else. The breakup wasn't hard, he said he would wait for me and we are still pretty good friends. That was a couple months ago, and while I still don't feel 100% about myself, I'm starting to miss him more and more. I invited him to a get-together with some of our friends, and I was reminded about how amazing of a guy he is. Another factor in the breakup was that I still live with my parents and I'm technically not allowed to have a boyfriend. Whenever we hung out it would be at school or behind my parents' back. I have scheduled a driver's test in a couple months, so I won't have to rely on my parents taking me places and possibly finding a boyfriend. Now here's my dilema, while I'm working on myself and waiting for my test, I want to hang out with him even more. I want to rebuild our relationship, but I don't know if that's fair to him. I still think that he can do better than me and I don't want to lead him on too early where I am still not ready. And if we did start dating, I wouldn't know how to act. I feel like a boring person and I'm afraid that if we were alone I wouldn't be interesting (something I've thought about since we were together the first time). I'm not sure if it's selfish of me to hold onto him like this, what can I do?
