Water Quality Alert — HIGH bacteria at 6 sites this week (Surfrider Blue Water Task Force, samples July 23)

Finally, a week when all of Miami Beach beaches have low results for feces pollution. I heard the seaweed wasn't even that bad. Might be time to go to the beach, as these conditions are not likely to persist.

Bay sites still crappy.

⚠️ WATER QUALITY ALERT — Samples taken Thursday, July 23, 2026

🔴 Margaret Pace Park - 3524 Enterococcus

🔴 Parkview / Kayak Launch - 243 Enterococcus

🔴 Normandy Shores - 201 Enterococcus

🔴 West Ave Pump Stations 27 & 28 - 134 Enterococcus

🔴 Legions Park - 112 Enterococcus

🔴 Key Biscayne: Beach Club - 103 Enterococcus

🟡 360 Condo (North Bay Village) - 62 Enterococcus

(High = over 70 MPN/100ml, per Florida Dept of Health standards)

Contact with water at these locations can raise the risk of illness — avoid swimming, wading, and other water contact at these sites until levels come back down.

These are volunteer-collected results from the Surfrider Miami Blue Water Task Force, which supplement the Florida Department of Health's Healthy Beaches program.

🟡 Allison Park Beach - 63 Enterococcus

🟡 Pinetree Park Kayak Launch - 41 Enterococcus

(High = over 70 MPN/100ml, per Florida Dept of Health standards)

Miami Beach & Golden Beaches shut down by State of Florida for poop pollution - Miami Herald - These Miami-Dade beaches have too much poop for swimming, advisory says

https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/miami-dade/miami-beach/article316480699.html

The TL;DR: The Florida Department of Health has issued a water quality advisory warning beachgoers to stay out of the water at three local beaches after recent testing revealed elevated levels of Enterococcus bacteria (which indicates fecal contamination/poop in the water).

🚫 Affected Beaches:

  • North Shore Ocean Terrace (Around 73rd Street in Miami Beach)
  • Bark Beach (Around 79th Street in Miami Beach)
  • Golden Beach (North Miami-Dade near the Broward County line)

🦠 Why it matters:

Swimming in these waters right now carries an increased risk of illness. The advisory will stay in place until bacteria levels drop back down to safe state guidelines.

If you have questions, you can contact the Florida Department of Health-Miami-Dade at 305-324-2400.

⚠️ Water Quality Alert – Miami Beach

Surfrider Miami's Blue Water Task Force just released water quality results from samples taken July 9, 2026, and several Miami Beach testing sites showed High bacteria levels (Enterococcus). Residents and visitors should use caution and consider avoiding water contact at these locations until further testing confirms improvement:

📍 Normandy Shores
📍 North Shore Ocean Terrace, 73rd St
📍 West Ave Pump Stations 27 & 28
📍 Parkview / Kayak Launch

High bacteria levels can pose health risks, especially for young children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems. Please stay informed and check for updated results before swimming.

These are supplemental community-science results from Surfrider Miami's BWTF program, meant to complement official testing from the Florida Department of Health's Healthy Beaches Program. Stay safe out there! 🌊
