Looking for Hair Extension Salon Recommendations in Miami

Hi everyone! I’m new to Miami and I’m looking for recommendations for a high-quality hair extension salon. I’m interested in natural-looking extensions (keratin, hand-tied, or tape-ins) and would love to hear about your real experiences. I’m willing to pay for quality, so recommendations are very welcome. Thank you! 💕

Is the construction noise at The Setai exaggerated or is it a real issue?

considering booking The Setai in August but the noise concerns have me spooked. alternative would be Faena, 1 Hotel, Delano or The Standard.

The Setai is my clear top choice if not for noise.

thanks!

limited Budget -- want one or two Miami Beach dinners

So I'll be down in Miami beach for a few days next month. I'm open pretty much to all foods. I'm from the middle of no where America FWIW.

I've been doing some research and I've come up with these spots. Any thoughts on worth it or not? I don't mind spending the money but I don't wanna feel ripped off.

  1. Joe's Stone Crab
  2. Macchalina (heard their pasta was very good)
  3. Stubborn Seed
  4. Yard Bird
  5. Essancia (I think that's a restaurant in a hotel)

ALSO, am told that many restaurants on Miami Beach auto include a, "service charge." Is that the tip? Or am I expected to tip 20% on top of that?

Single 32 year old women no kids, no car, and 8 month old puppy, Would you move to south beach just to live long term or do you recommend living more inland for long term living.

Any recommendations on where to live ?

Edit: By the way thank you guys for all of your insight very useful information, maybe we’ll run into each other passing one day 🤣🫶🏼

Looking for hotel recommendations for couple in 30s for end of July. A little vibey but not too crazy.

So far i’m leaning towards:

+ the national
+ esme
+ the standard (would be a splurge out of all)
+ the shelbourne
+ good time hotel (thoughts?)

things that are important to us:
+ nice pool set up
+ vibey/relaxing/not overly clubby but don’t mind live music or a dj (just don’t want a vibe full of 21 yos)
+ cute aesthetic
+ on-site bar
+ good location
+ beach access would be cool but not a make or break.

we’re an artsy/hipster couple, like good music, art, cocktails, shopping/vintage etc.

want to stay affordable but open to spending like $1-1.5k if worth it.

am i missing any good ones? we don’t want an overly resort feel or anything too massive.

Free or cheap overnight parking?

I’m travelling to Miami in a few days and renting a car. I will be staying at a hotel but their overnight parking rate is ridiculous. Is there anywhere else I can park? We’ll be staying on Collins.

finally found a south beach spot that isnt a tourist trap

been here three years and i swear half the restaurants in south beach survive on tourists who dont know better. ive given up on most of them.

but last week a friend took me to stubborn seed and i was actually impressed. not gonna pretend its cheap but at least the food was legit. you can tell someone in the kitchen actually cares. they post their current menu on their website which is nice cause you can see what theyre working with that season.

anyway just wanted to share cause i know im not the only one tired of getting ripped off here.

what other spots are actually good. i need more places for when family visits.

Miami entitlement and elitism

State attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle and her husband are so entitled that they can’t even go park their car and walk to Roasters to have lunch. They parked in the fire lane right outside the front door and went in to sit casually and have their brunch.

Why does North Beach have almost no decent gym options?

I live in North Beach / Miami Beach, and I honestly don’t understand why this area still has such limited gym options.
North Beach has been growing and developing, but when it comes to fitness, residents are basically stuck with very few choices. The main local gym option, Beach Body Health Club on Collins Ave, is in really poor condition and somehow is now listed as a “Premium” gym through Active&Fit Direct.

The equipment is old, worn out, and poorly maintained. A lot of machines have torn upholstery, visible damage, rust, dirt, and the place often does not feel clean or sanitary. The AC barely works, and from what I’ve seen, the overall condition of the gym is far below what most people would expect from a “premium” facility.

North Beach really needs better gym options. With all the residential buildings, new development, and people living here, it feels crazy that we don’t have a clean, modern, well-maintained gym nearby.
Does anyone else feel the same way? Why hasn’t a better gym opened in North Beach yet — Planet Fitness, YouFit, Anytime Fitness, Crunch, or any other full-service gym? There is clearly demand here.

What city would you recommend! Please tell me the good the bad and the ugly!

Hi I’m 20(F) and my boyfriend(21) are moving to Miami for a short period probably a year or so (unless life keeps us there) I’ve been trying to do a little research of where to live, and I feel suck, I really do like hearing people’s honest opinions so tell me all your thoughts! I don’t necessarily have like a lot of things I’m looking for. I’m really open to a lot. Main things for me
\-Safety. ( I understand it’s Miami and everywhere is dangerous in on way or another but ideal not a scary ass place or nothing like that
\-$$$ i know it’s all expensive but obviously some cities are better than others. I’m not trying to live in like a high-rise nice apartment or anything. I plan on finding other roommates if I can or renting a room
\-walkable. I will have a a car because I’m driving there from Michigan, but I would still love for a lot of stuff to be around where I can walk and explore and do a lot
\-other little things, I am a dancer. I’m going down there for dance so if there’s a city where there’s a lot of opportunities or just entertainment or performing, that would be awesome but if not, I’m totally OK with that too. I don’t really plan on living like downtown Miami. but honestly, if you can give me some good reasons why to live there I would I’m also not opposed to living maybe even Fort Lauderdale area. Idk my head kinda everywhere in this area any suggestions or recommendations would be beyond helpful

Setai, Faena, 1 Hotel, Delano or The Standard?

couples trip. 40 years old. not looking to party. more low key, chill at pool and beach. drink good, eat good. maybe a massage.

Setai would be tops for us if it weren't for two things we read: construction nearby and a lackluster spa.

1 Hotel looks great but gets mixed reviews here.

The Delano wasn't on my radar until I read about it's recent renovation.

The Standard just sounds cool...but, eh?

How many beach dems are okay with the way the Democratic Party is trending?

It’s not Democracy, it’s true Socialism. Every candidate says it. What makes this good? History says it’s not.

Upscale South beach hotels that are vegan accommodating with alot of amenities

So me and my husband are newlyweds and he works in South florida (I am currently working on moving my stuff over there) but for right now I am visiting for long periods. We are skipping a proper honeymoon for now and instead we are doing weekend stays in various places across Florida

We want a typical beachfront resort experience with all the bells and whistles without breaking the bank and something walkable to ocean avenue.

I was looking at Loews Miami Beach location as our most cost effective ocean front option with lots of amenities but open to options!

I am vegan and we want to be able to order room service for breakfast some days for the experience so finding a hotel that doesn’t just have avocado toast and potatoes as their breakfast option would be great, if you know you know.

What's the most annoying thing about valet parking?

Miami, what's the most annoying thing about valet parking?

I'm working on a valet management platform with my team, and before we keep adding features, I wanted to hear from people who actually use valet services.

Miami probably has more valet parking than most cities, so I figured this was the right place to ask.

What actually annoys you?

Is it waiting too long for your car?

Paper tickets that are easy to lose?

Not knowing if your car has even been requested?

The payment process?

Or is there something else that drives you crazy?

If you've worked as a valet or managed a valet operation, I'd love to hear your side too. I imagine customers and operators deal with very different problems.

Not here to promote anything. Just trying to understand what's broken so we can build something that actually solves it.

I'd appreciate any honest feedback.
