Dark Brown (Espresso / Near-Black):

This is the most heavily pigmented shade. Under normal indoor lighting, the iris can look almost black, blending seamlessly with the pupil. In direct sunlight, rich, deep chocolate undertones become visible.

Medium Brown (Chestnut / Chocolate): The classic brown eye. It has a distinct, rich brown appearance in almost any lighting. It often features warm, earthy undertones and reflects light with golden or slight reddish hints.

Light Brown (Cognac / Russet): A noticeably lighter shade where the iris is clearly translucent rather than dark. It carries a warm, syrup-like depth and looks strikingly bright in daylight.

Amber (Golden): While often considered its own rare category, amber eyes sit on the edge of the brown spectrum. They feature a solid yellowish, golden, or coppery tint with very little brown or green. They are sometimes called "wolf eyes" due to their striking, uniform glow.

Hazel (Brown-Dominant): Hazel is a dynamic mix of colors, but many hazel eyes lean heavily toward brown. They typically feature a brown or gold burst around the pupil that fades into green or gray toward the outer edge of the iris.
