This will be our first winter with Archie, and I want to keep his hair long. Do you have any advice or tips? I brush him every day, and I’m going to buy a raincoat as well as some boots to save myself from drying his hair when it rains (which is pretty much every day in England). I think I’m also going to have to trim his belly hair very short, as well as the inside of his back legs, as he gets it all wet whenever he wees.

I’m getting a kitten from the animal shelter next week! Looking to hear anyone’s experiences with building their dog’s and cat’s bond and any advice you have. My Havanese is 1.5 yr old. She does well with other dogs- she views them all as immediate friends, but is good at reading their cues so if she comes on too strong, she understands when it’s time to back off. She does well with toddlers- doesn’t play as rough with them as she does with me. Her prey drive is low, I’ve been able to call her away from chasing squirrels off leash more than once. She doesn’t have any experience with cats.

Hello! Teddy is 12 and over the past two years has been diagnosed with mild chronic valvular disease. This year’s echocardiogram showed it has progressed but is still mild enough not to require treatment yet. However, they noticed elevated kidney levels in July. We retested this week and they’re still elevated and we’re going to retest again in 2 weeks + do a urinalysis. Hoping for the best but if he does get a diagnosis they said one element of treatment would be SubQ fluids. Has anyone gone through this with their dog?

Recently adopted this beautiful boy at 5 years old! Previous owner of Casper took care of him and he’s pretty healthy boy - however he never got neutered and I’m just wondering from other havi owners on their experience with not neutered/ spaying?

I just keep hearing mixed reviews about to fix or to not i got him groomed and took him to the vet. ( both the groomer and vet did tell me to just fix him because it’s better for their lifespan). but then I hear others who experienced a long life and never got neutered?

I am just conflicted on whether I should or not. The reasons why I am doubtful also is because Capser is such an energetic and playful dog and I’m scared neutering him now might make him anti social and change his personality given he is 5 years old now!!

He never is aggressive unless he dislikes another dog and just growls at - overall such a happy and cuddly boy!!!!

Another question is if anybody had a bad experience with Petco teeth cleaning or would just going to a regular vet be better? Capser never got a professional teeth cleaning and his breath used to smell really bad and now doesn’t as much bc I started feeding him a better kibble
