Electrical issue?
My 2022 Kia forte GT 6MT with 76k miles is having electrical issues. This morning I went to start my car and nothing happened at all. I tried to jump it and my electrical would be fine but the car wouldn’t recognize that I had compressed my clutch to start it.
I don’t think it’s my starter/battery because it’s able to crank and I got it to run twice but when I go to turn it off the press start button doesn’t do anything and my display shown asks me to press start to turn on. It is thinking that the car was not running and the only way I could easily get it off is to stall it. My clutch position sensor seems to be fine and I think it’s the weird electrical glitches that make it bug out because I have to press my clutch a bunch of times to get it to “relearn” and it started. My battery was replaced in December 2025, and I just got it charged to see if it was just a bad battery, but I was good to charge and the health was good.
The actual terminal wire for the negative side to the battery seemed weirdly loose but I was able to give it a few gentle taps with my mallet to get it fully seated, but after tightening the screw I’m still getting this issue.
Could it just be that I need to replace the terminal wires or am I missing something? I don’t have anything plugged in so the only thing I could think to drain the battery in the first place is maybe the terminal wires was loose and it was shorting?
