iPhone 17 Pro Max vs 16 Plus vs Air

I am looking to switch from android (Samsung Galaxy S23) to iPhone.

I also want to get a big screen phone and these are the biggest screen phones Apple Currently sells.

I am not too too fussed about Cameras however I would like the convenience of an ultra-wide which is already a knock on the Air, as well as a decent battery, another knock possibly.

I don't need that much storage, so I am looking at the 256GB model of each of them

iPhone 17 Pro Max: £1,199

iPhone 16 Plus: £899

iPhone Air: £999

Also just as a possible other option, a refurbished iPhone 16 Pro Max: £949

I know this sub may be a little bias, but would still love some advice.

Thanks

Question about the "Domestic" box office

The "domestic" box office is often regarded as the US & Canada, I can kind of get that, there's also no real point in reporting Canada as a separate number.

What I find confusing are 2 things:

  1. Why is it still called the "domestic" box office when it's a foreign film? for example, if a Japanese film played worldwide, shouldn't its domestic box office be the box office of its home country of Japan, not the US & Canada.
  2. Similar to the first question, why aren't other countries added to that when it's a co-production between the US and another country? For example, Chris Nolan movies are registered as both American movies and British movies, thus say the domestic box office for Oppenheimer would be that of the US & Canada AND the UK.

Would love to hear the reasonings.

P.S. Yes I know this is kinda nit-picky.

Transitioning from Android/PC to iPhone/Mac. Are these worth it? also question about apple finance.

For reference, I am 22M, Unemployed, looking to get into medium/long form decently high quality content creation for YouTube. Currently have £18,000 saved up.

I currently rock a tech set up of a Samsung Galaxy S23 128gb, Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 16GB RAM 1TB SSD Intel Core Ultra 7 155, and Beats PowerBeats Pro 2. Suffice to say the phone is getting quite old now (noticeably decreased battery life) and the laptop is terribly inefficient, only getting around 4 hours screen-on time.

I am currently looking at an iPhone 17 Pro Max 512GB (in blue btw), 16 Inch MacBook Pro M5 Pro 64GB RAM 4TB SSD, and as an accessory an Apple Watch Ultra 3.

The iPhone is £1,399, the MacBook is £4,548 and the Watch is £749, leading to a combined price of £6,696. So I can obviously pay for it all upfront.

However, I am curious about financing, along with a phone plan, I want to build my credit score, without a credit card just yet.

Mainly for the iPhone because of the 20 month upgrade every year 0% plan as it will actually run to be cheaper when I get the iPhone 20.

The Watch I could go either way.

With the MacBook however, would it be better to just pay full upfront since it is a hefty purchase? or finance that too.

What experiences have you guys had with financing? Are these good products to get? and overall just advice for someone looking to switch from Android/PC to iPhone/Mac.

What should be the aim for 26/27?

I feel like Play-Offs, especially after the expansion, should be the baseline.

Wrexham are probably going to have the largest player bill this upcoming season out of the non-PL-relegated teams.

Obviously 3rd/4th saves the boys that extra match.

Or, just maybe, can we really stick it to Wolves, Burnley and Ham/Spurs and be right in the mix of Automatic next year.

Realistically, just that one place better than this season would be great, once again the highest position ever for the club, but could we technically still be on for Wrexham being a Premier League side for the first time ever in 2027?

Advice on my routines

Just simple, I want some advice on my routines.

My goal is basically body recomp.

I am 22M, 5' 9", I don't know my weight exactly, I am on the chubbier side, but as said, I'm not necessarily focused on massive weight reduction just fat loss replaced with muscle gain.

I am unemployed (got enough money for membership) and lived, up until the gym, a very sedentary life, I still am quite sedentary on my rest days tho, so advice on rest days would be nice.

My gym is an independent gym, and I would say on the medium to medium-small size, like it's got quite a variety of equipment but tends to be only one of each machine for more specialist equipment (e.g. hack squat, lateral row, leg press).

I don't strictly count my calories or protein but I don't eat too much and the foods and drink I do have are high in protein.

I probably do need to start tracking more tho, so some advice on weight and nutrition tracking would be great.

I have been going to the gym for around a month now, and I didn't properly start tracking my workouts till a couple weeks ago.

I try to go 3 times a week.

I want to do 3 full bodies a week, eventually bringing that up to 4, then possibly 5.

So what advice do you have, mainly what exercises should I add? any that I should take out?

My set breakdowns? Are warm-up sets good?

Also advice on cardio. When to do it? how much?

Thank you

Why does Amazon's comic-book related shows (The Boys & Invincible) seem to get significantly more viewership than Marvel/Disney and DC/HBO shows?

I know Nielsen is just for the US, however I think the data could be roughly translated worldwide.

It seems like The Boys and Invincible often chart more and higher up, whereas DC and Marvel's shows only seem to pop-up here and there.

Is it purely because of numbers, Amazon Prime has 205 Million subs, whereas Disney+ and HBO Max has 196 and 155.6 Million respectively.

Or are Amazon's shows more appealing to a wider audience?

Also, what makes Invincible even more successful compared to the animated efforts of Marvel and DC?

Why is the padding on gym equipment so hard?

This might be a weird question.

I did my first sets of hack squat yesterday, and like many other people, I got those red marks on my shoulders.

It really got me thinking about other machines.

Why is the padding so hard?

Be that seats, back rests, shoulder rests, leg clamps, leg rests, etc.

I was contextualising it in relation to suspension in cars: sportier, faster cars often have stiffer suspension so as to be able to plant themselves on the road better, whereas luxury cars have softer suspension so as to glide over the road.

Under this context, I can fully understand having harder padding to ensure proper planting of someone's legs, ass, arms, shoulders and back. However I still feel like it's way to hard, given the aforementioned commonality of red marks on the shoulders from hack squat machines from beginners.

Also with the car context, tires and wheels are a lot more stiffer and firmer compared to human skin and muscle so there definitely needs to be an element of softness. I am not asking for plush couches, just enough to be comfortable.

Who knows, I could just be bitching for the sake of bitching.

Do any of you agree?

I think everyone agrees that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is going to rule the summer box office, both domestically and worldwide.

It would have been 2 weeks after the Odyssey, 3 weeks from Moana, just over 4 weeks from Minions & Monsters and 5 weeks from Supergirl, suffice to say it's got a good buffer from previous competition, add on to this crazy reception to the first trailer, and hype levels presumably being insanely high going into July 31st. No wonder so many, including myself thinks this movie could gross more than $200 million opening weekend, heck it could actually get close to No Way Home's opening of $260 million.

Speaking of No Way Home, it had a 67.5% drop for it's 2nd weekend, grossing $84.5 million. Now obviously No Way Home came out in a very unique time and there was obviously the Omicron variant rising in virality and theatres being very cautious with capacity or even being open during that hectic Christmas/New Years period in 2021/22.

Now let's talk Brand New Day, one similarity it has with No Way Home is that it's got not much competition ahead of it. No Way Home's biggest competition was ironically Sony/Tom Holland's Uncharted that opened February 18th, giving No Way Home 2 months. Brand New Day doesn't really have much competition ahead of it either Sony's Resident Evil on September 18th (for nerds basically) or more realistically Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame Re-release on September 25th.

In terms of previous competition, as aforementioned, there is quite a few, but I do think there is going to be quite a lot of cannibalisation, we are going week to week, starting June 5th, from Masters of the Universe, to Disclosure Day, to Toy Story 5, to Supergirl, to Minions & Monsters, to Moana, to The Odyssey on July 17th, that is just quite a lot. Giving Brand New Day that 2 week reprieve will do wonders in calming the storm, I do think the 2 movies that will possibly give the most strife for BND are Minions & Monsters because those movies have leeeegggs, and obviously the other Tom Holland / Zendaya / Jon Bernthal movie that month, the Odyssey, but I think just for the gimmick of those 3 being in both could have some quasi-Barbenheimer effects in gamifying people seeing both more and more, and obviously The Odyssey does have the IMAX screens, but I don't think that will have much effect. So in terms of previous competition, I don't think BND has anything to be majorly concerned about.

Now the $200+ Million question is the quality of the movie, this is the first MCU Holland Spidey flick from a new director in Destin Daniel Cretton, I don't think this change is much cause for concern, He has now delivered twice for Marvel Studios with Shang-Chi and Wonder Man. We also still have the same writers of the 2 previous films, both films are the highest grossing Spider-Man movies of all time worldwide and the 1st and 3rd highest grossing domestic. People really seem to be resonating with the new style we've gotten from the trailer, myself included. It's just the right balance of being a Spidey solo story, dealing with being alone and sacrifice, and quite a few of his rogues gallery, while also being firmly integrated with the MCU with Bruce Banner / Hulk and Frank Castle / Punisher (coming right off of his special), The Hand from the defenders-verse as well, and rumoured >!Matt Murdock / Daredevil, and introducing Jean Grey and really kicking off the MCU's Mutant story with the DODC and Mutations.!<I think it's safe to say we're in for a great Spider-Man movie and possibly the greatest live-action Spider-Man movie yet. so quality won't cause a cliff edge fall on the second weekend

So with all that being said, also with the aforementioned context of No Way Home's 2nd weekend having it's 67.5% drop to $84.5M, how will BND do in it's second weekend and if it will gross more than $100M?

Obviously the more it grosses the more relatively easy it will be, a $200M opening would require a much more difficult <50% drop, whereas a $250M opening would require a relatively easier <60% drop. Interestingly, Deadpool & Wolverine, 2 years ago in that late July release date, with no other competition other than a family animated movie in Inside Out 2, opened at $211.4M and had a 54.2% drop on it's second, grossing $96.8M. With that added context, and given Spider-Man as a substantially more popular superhero, I think there is a 90% chance that BND will have a $100+M second weekend.

What do you guys all think?
