Random question: Is there a lot of corn growing on the sides of highways?

I'm sorry for how random this is, and I hope it fits the sub, but I was driving around Italy (Emilia-Romagna and Marche mostly) a few weeks ago and we noticed what appeared to be corn growing on the side of major roads. It wasn't an isolated thing but rather along most of the toll roads. Is that actually corn and if so, what is it doing there?

I'm not talking about big cornfields, but rather what appeared to be just random corn growing just along the edge of the road and not really farther back.

South America or Southeast Asia? Or both?

Hello! I have a sabbatical coming up and am thinking of doing some slow-exploration of a few places. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, to be honest. I'm very well-traveled, but I've never had the time or money to do what I'm thinking of doing - 2-3 months of slow travel during the northern winter months.

Peru and Bolivia are calling to me, but so is Southeast Asia (Vietnam in particular - I've been once but only for a short trip). I'm interested in connecting with local culture, relaxing, experiencing food, museums and nightlife, etc. I'm more of a city traveler than a nature person, but I do enjoy beaches and seaside towns.

I feel paralyzed trying to decide. And then I'll share my ideas and someone will suggest another place, and that'll spin me a bit too.

I have enough airline miles to cover any big flights (I've been hoarding them for 15 years) and enough money to manage my needs. I just don't know how to plan an itinerary like this! Do I just pick a starting point and go from there or do I book in advance? Please help!

Who played Judas last night at the Palladium?

I was at Jesus Christ Superstar last night and I'm fairly certain Tyrone Huntley was not on stage. (Edit: He confirmed on Instagram that he's injured and was out last night).

I have a photo from the bows and the guy playing Judas does not look remotely like him (I was seated pretty far away and have poor eyesight, so I wasn't totally sure until I saw my photo). It definitely wasn't "alt Judas" Billy Nevers (I recognized him immediately as Simon Zealotes - that voice!) but there was no announcement and nothing on the website that indicates anyone else was filling in or even understudy for the role!

Photo is below, he's to (stage) right of Sam Ryder. I know it's blurry.

When is it worth it to buy a round-the-world ticket?

I have a "once in a lifetime" opportunity next year to take three months off, fully paid, and travel the world. Now, I've been to more than 70 countries already, so I'm considering using this time to see a few new ones, and spend some additional time in some ones I love. Which ones, exactly? Still not sure, that's what I'm trying to figure out! It's so overwhelming.

So I'm wondering when it's worthwhile to do a RTW ticket. I just looked into the Star Alliance one and apart from the minor inconvenience of having to travel only in one direction, the prices look quite reasonable and would allow me to stop in a few additional places I hadn't considered, and normally would've avoided on this trip because they're more expensive (for instance, stopping in Hawaii for a few days sounds great).

Before this, I was considering just focusing on one or two regions - I was looking into Peru for 2 weeks (I have friends there) to Southeast Asia for most of the trip because it's a good time of year and I'd like to revisit some places and see some new ones, but this is so tempting.

I admittedly haven't priced the alternatives, but I did a "test run" on the Star Alliance site and can do like 7 countries for around $3500, which is within my flight budget.

Any thoughts from folks who've done this sort of thing? Like I said, I'm well-traveled, but a lot of it has been short trips from Europe (a week in Turkey, a week in Morocco, a few weeks in South Africa) or business travel where I added extra days to sightsee, so this is still new territory.

Nail salon?

Any recs for a nail salon that does BIAB or builder gel? I’ve only found one and it’s booked solid. Will drive as far as Portsmouth or Exeter in either direction.

Episode I vaguely remember

I have this memory of an episode where Olivia knows that a victim killed her stalker/rapist and doesn’t report it. It’s at the end of the episode. Did that really happen or am I remembering a different TV show?

What’s now the most British thing about you?

I’ve only lived in the UK for less than a year (but I’ve had a British partner for much longer) and I’m in Scandinavia right now with a ziploc of Yorkshire teabags and a tote of my favorite M&S sweeties. What’s something you do now or can’t live without?

Road trip/new places

I’m planning a trip to Italy this summer (July 25-August 4 roughly), flying in to Bologna and probably out of Ancona.

I’ve been to Italy a dozen or so times and seen most of the major (and minor) cities so we’ve decided to rent a car and do some exploring. The flights were chosen for cheap prices (as we’re meeting each other from different origin cities) but the rest of the itinerary is entirely open. We definitely plan to see San Marino, and we will rent a car for at least half the trip.

We’re looking for interesting historical sites, wine-related events, and nature. The hope is to relax, get out of the main touristy areas and see some new things.

I haven’t booked any accommodation yet but the plan is to stay the first two nights in Bologna, take the train to Ancona, then rent the car from there. We’re open to staying in different hotels each night or not. Happy to drive or take the train to get places (the car is more for getting to San Marino and places that aren’t train accessible). We’ll end the trip in or near Ancona and get some beach time (best beaches nearby?)

For the record I’ve already spent time in: Perugia, Florence, Venice, Rome, Pescara, Modena, Riccione, Lake Como, Bologna, Lucca, Zagarolo, and Pistoia (and Sicily but that’s not so relevant here).

(We’re both Europeans fwiw)

Just caught up - best episodes to go back to?

I just watched seasons 15-present and have seen most but not all of the earlier seasons, some when they were new (so a long time ago!). I have access to every season. What are your favorite episodes from seasons 1-15 that I can drop in on without having to watch the entire season again?

I usually get up first and make the coffee but I slept a little late this morning and have now learned that my partner either doesn’t know how to make coffee or has no taste buds, as the coffee tasted like slightly flavored water. I went to empty the press and there were barely any grounds in there.
