Fromage: first play

Fromage: first play

Technically it's the second play for me but first from my own game. Still learning and some of the rules tripped us up like whether the first structure action gets our workers back immediately or on next turn. I did terribly on this game but keen to play it again. The simultaneous play speeds up the game a lot which makes it a fairly quick game (40-60 min). Worker placement games are still not a strong point for me but I'm warming to how they play.

Viticulture: solo mode on normal

I took on all the tips about strategies you've given and managed to win on normal mode. Getting any points when I could with the bonus glass tokens. Sold 2 fields to gain money to build. Built the cottage and trained as many workers as I could first. Drew as many visitor cards as I could with point bonuses. Uprooted 2 vines to gain points. Even sold my last field in the last round to get 1 point. I actually could've gained more than 25 points with my grande worker. I'm actually shocked how well all the tips you've given me worked out!

Viticulture solo mode: very easy level

Admittedly this was very easy mode and I got some very lucky card draws. Will start leveling up the difficulty. This game is actually quite fun solo and a real challenge.

Viticulture: tips and strategies

I need help. I'm absolutely rubbish at this game and worker placement games in general. What are your tips and strategies?

Reprints and reimplementions: do you prefer the originals?

With the overwhelming amount of reprints and reimplementions, which games do you think were better before? Did the newer editions ruin or break the game for you?

Rivals For Catan: The Era of Gold first play

So we ran out of time and only played to 10 points but the setup was confusing. I do enjoy the new card abilities though. Eager to add the other Era cards in.

The Castles of Burgundy: first play

It's a classic for a reason. I freaking love this game. Even though it went longer than expected (granted it was a first play), I loved every minute! And I came third! Being able to do things even on bad rolls is so satisfying.

Beer and Bread: 2 player game

I didn't know much about this game before I found it on Marketplace for $30 AUD. It's a great 2 player game, just a step up in complexity than other games that play to 2, Harmonies, Splendor, Sagrada, Azul. It's a chill time with a bit more depth than the aforementioned. Also thematically it works.

Long Shot: first play with 2 players

Definitely a game that would be more fun with more players. Can't wait to play with 6. What does everyone else think of this game?

Fleet the Dice Game whilst recovering from surgery

I achieved the scoring result of "Mate". Best I've done so far playing solo. Still my favourite roll and write solo.

Sylvion: thoughts?

Played the base introductory game today. At first I thought it was easy but then got annihilated by the ravage in the final battle. Those who have played this, which expansions should I add in next?

Can you explain what "meta" means in terms of board games?

This term keeps coming up and I have no idea what it means when talking about board games. I've heard people say "meta game". Please explain.

What does it mean when someone describes a game as "tight"?

As the title asks, what does tight mean when talking about board games? What are some tight board games and why are they tight? Benefits of a tight game?

The worst thing about playing on BGA

The worst thing is playing a 4 player game for over a month and then 2 players abandon the game and it just ends. Argh.

What's a game you used to see everywhere, everyone was talking about it, it was all over your feeds but now you never hear anyone talking about it?

As the title asks.

Rivals For Catan: first play

Enjoyed this a lot. Have never played the OG Catan but Rivals as a 2 player game is really fun.

2 player Sundays: Rivals For Catan and Splendor Duel

Both games are excellent 2 player only games. Splendor is one of this first games we ever owned (after Patchwork). Rivals For Catan is a first play tonight. Having never played OG Catan, it took us a bit to work it out. I love the swivel mechanic for gaining resources. Genius. Also this game takes up a surpringly amount of space. Can't wait to play beyond the "basic set".

Rivals of Catan newbie. What should I expect?

So I've just bought a used copy of Rivals For Catan for $10 aud. I've never played the OG Catan but I've watched some videos and get the general gameplay. What should I expect with Rivals? Is it much different?
