Pm called to get a statement 5:45am

I’m the only RCA who works on 3 rts, sometimes max of 5 rts if our ARC is absent. Also, the hub I have to go to is about 15 minutes from my primary PO office and I don’t usually stop at primary unless I have to drop off a ‘hold’ mail and everything is already with me when I detour to different rts.

Yesterday, I was on detour to the last rt and happen to glance the direction of our PO on the way from a previous rt I finished. I noticed one of the Metris left bumper was low and I thought it was just sagging, but I didn’t turn to my PO to investigate and kept continuing with delivering. I did inform the clerk of our PO about it sagging and nothing else later that day.

Low and behold, my PM called a couple hours early today before my scheduled shift starts to get my statement and questioning me why I didn’t think to actually investigate due to being the last person who used it on last Saturday (which was in good condition) when she looked into the matter, bumper was low and left mirror was smashed as if a car came, hit it apparently.

I wasn’t aware that our PM was the only one who does reports let alone thought that I had to check any company vehicle (more so one that I last used on mailing day) for suspicious damage even if it’s at a glance. But, man to get a call thinking my alarm was going off wasn’t great cause now I’m struggling to get back to sleep before my first alarm.

Our office had a talk that we (regular or non regular) carrier’s have to come back after doing our primary rt to then work on another rt to split so that we aren’t getting overtime when we would pivot every other Saturday splitting a J rt, the affect is for all Rural side from what I was informed by my PM. Unions opinion is that we are earning too much money.
