Are you smarter than Brad Stevens? Part 2.

Whaddup fam. made a post last year asking what y’all would do if you were in Boston Celtics GM Brad Stevens’ shoes needing offload a number of players. Some good discussion and ideas, some even came true.

Now we’re back again.

As experienced Basketball GMs, would any of y’all have made this Jaylen Brown move?

Consider the return package, maybe factor in the emotional side we don’t get to see inthe game? Go wild. What would y’all have done here?

Agreeable unhinged takes

Hey all, I had some thoughts this morning that are probably somewhat agreeable but controversial here. Wanted to share to generate discussion. I will share context on myself as I feel this will help the discussion by letting us all identify with, oppose, or otherwise rationalize these opinions.

For Context: I am a white 29M living in an east coast US city. My background is in tech. I grew up in a suburb of a third-tier small city. I don’t align with a political party but inherently support progressive ideas. (realizing I am literally probably the primary demographic on these forums lmao, whaddup lads)

Ok, the opinions:

  • We need more housing.
  • Brand new townhome subdivisions are gross…
  • … but I think townhomes are probably the answer to the housing crisis
  • Big “luxury“ apartment blocks are ugly af, but I don’t have any quantifiable reason why they shouldn’t be built (unfortunately)
  • Democratic mayors should use Trump-style policy to crush nimby opposition and build, build, build baby!
  • Nobody actually wants to live in an apartment for the rest of their lives
  • Federal laws should be passed such that if you develop a new big box department store the parking lot must have a solar canopy
  • Historical preservation should have less sway over new development
  • Small “starter homes“ should be built more often instead of apartments. I’m talking like 900 to 1200 ft lil box houses
  • The government should intervene in the housing market more often. clearly free market capitalism for real estate owners incentivizes creating an artificial lack of supply to increase demand and drive prices
  • Despite all this for every X amount of greenfield land built upon, Y amount of land should be conserved in the local region
  • If you have a gripe with a new development in your neighborhood, you should have to have a petition that has at least 50% or more signatures from the neighborhood for that to influence development or local policy. It’s insane that individual homeowners can have their voice count loud enough to significantly impede your development
  • Rent control is not a good idea and a useful boogeyman for opponents
  • Likewise, I don’t think we should cut taxes. Not saying we should raise them or even do I think that our taxes are being used to our benefit in every town or govt but cutting them only makes it less likely that we get the infra needed to support new development
  • Towns that disobey ordinances or local laws to build more should literally be punished by the state by having funding withheld
  • (Very specific) If you own a home in Boston with more than two stories and a yard, your property should be seized by the city and converted into multi unit housing. You are the problem.

I’m aware some of these are slightly unhinged lol. They are Hot takes for a reason baby! Anyways, looking forward to discussion.

How do you plan your parks?

hey guys, diving into another obsessive period of playing since joining this sub and being inspired. This time, gonna try OpenRCT.

Something I’ve always struggled with is planning a park in the way it seems like so many of y’all do. And I always feel like I need to squeeze rides into small spots from the very beginning of the game in case I run out later.

Take Forest Frontiers for example, do you guys go ahead and build out a whole path structure right away? is it a straight line, a loop? And for your first coaster, do you just plain build it front & center, or try to put it off to the side?

I am getting quite stuck on trying to figure this out - either over-stressing on the planning portion or just saying screw it and doing whatever.

What do you all do?
