1970s and 1980s Naenae

The building in the first pic used to be the Valley Roller Rink. In the 1970s we would have school excursions or socials there. In the 80s, it was a social hub for teens and young adults. Inside the door to the left, you paid your admission then turned left to hire skates and buy food and drink. Ahead was an oval rink taking up most of the space. Down the back was the DJ booth and a small learner's rink. In 1986, there was a 24 hour skate-a-thon.

The second pic is what at the same time was a Mobil service station.

I couldn't find any pics or articles about the skating rink so I'm posting what I remember to pass the information on to people who never would have known about it.

Emergency preparedness

Another major earthquake on the ring of fire. 7.1 in Japan last night and we've had a few rattles in New Zealand recently too. It's a reminder to check your Go Bag and spare food cupboard as well as your batteries and power banks.

Napier City seems to be the only Pak n Save with Back Country dehydrated meals. Just add boiling water and wait a few minutes. They are really delicious and $5 cheaper than if you buy from Back Country directly as well as no shipping charge.

Limited range though:

Watch Nuremberg for free

I've wanted to watch it a while and was even considering paying to view on YouTube. This morning, I've found it's available for free on Kanopy.com.

For those that don't know, you log into Kanopy using the same details you use to log into Napier Libraries.

Perth, Western Australia

I'm looking for information about the Garden of Remembrance in Nedlands. Is this part of Karrakatta cemetery? Is there a monument and does it have names on it?

Your assistance is much appreciated as I am researching a decorated New Zealand WW1 soldier whose remains are there.
