Newbie questions on pacing?

Hi everyone, I just started TRE a few weeks ago and would appreciate some input just in terms of how I'm doing so far and if my pacing sounds about right.

I'm in a good place mentally but have pretty significant and long term muscle guarding throughout my body.

I started off with sessions of about twenty minutes daily (which i now realize was too much) for about four days. I experienced significant tremoring more or less from the start, starting in the legs and then moving to my pelvic region and abdomen. Sessions have always left me feeling good, i.e. now relaxed, quicker to laugh etc. However, I found that the next day or two I felt quite shaky and fragile.

I am now doing 15 minute sessions every three days. I still feel a bit shaky and fragile in the days after a session but it's not too bad, although it does make me feel a bit uneasy.

I'm happy enough with my current practice, but I'm wondering about two things in particular. First, maybe my sessions are still too long and I should cut back? I like to keep them long because this way the throwing goes up towards my back, and shoulders, and most of my pain is concentrated in my shoulder and neck. So I'm kind of desperate to relieve the muscle tension there.

Second, and relatedly, perhaps shorter, daily sessions would be better? Say 10 minutes a day?

After many years of trying everything to feel better, for the first time I've found something that actually seems to be having an effect. So I'm keen to get it right.

Also, if there is anyone on here from Ireland please say hi.

Sorry for the long post!

Fast Carbs?

just wondering if people find that eating fast Carbs (stuff that has calories but little else) find it benifits then because fast carbs are mainly suggested before they reach the colon? For example if you got a lot of your calories from something like honey would that allow your colon to rest?

Huel?

Had any one use the food supplement Huel? It's supposed to provide a complete meal in the form of a shake/drink. I wonder if it might be good for people with UC because it's would mean less solid food for my body to process? It does have quite high fiber though. I haven't tried it yet myself but I'm curious

Help me understand how PTSD shows up in the body

I'll try to keep this short! I've had a variety of health issues for about ten years. Many of these started around the same time I developed a panic disorder which later became generalised anxiety. I'm in a good place mentally now but I still have various health issues. In particular, I experience quite intense muscle tightness all over my body. All my muscles feel like they are permanently clenched. I also feel my breathing is restricted. The muscle clenching seems to be the cause of pain in many places in my body, especially my jaw, neck, shoulders, head/face. I also suffer from constipation which I believe is linked to my muscles being all clenched, including pelvic floor.

I have two questions I would really like some help with.

  1. Do these symptoms seem likely to be related to PTSD? My hypothesis is that because I have had along term generalised anxiety my body/nervous system became trapped in 'fight or flight' mode and my muscles have just become 'stuck' in clenching
  2. What are some of the best things to try for PTSD, especially in terms of how it shows up in the body? I have done 4 years talk therapy in the past, I am on an SNRI, and I got into meditation and eventually became a Buddhist. My lifestyle is very calm (accept for constantly ruminating on the cause of my muscle/pain issues). I don't drink.

I'd really appreciate any help!

Unsweetened nicotine pouches

Are there any nicotine pouches without artificial sweetness? I avoid synthetic sugars for health reasons. I would prefer nicotine with no flavor or sweetness but not sure this is possible

Any one have success with dietary changes to have less digestive discomfort? I'm thinking maybe cutting down on vegtables and fruit, eating mainly rice instead of pasta and bread and that kind of thing. Dont want to do any extreme diets

Colonscopy prep & fasting

First full colonoscopy on Monday. The preparation info says to fast after breakfast the day before (the colonoscopy is at 8am). So that's roughly 24 hour fast. That seems a bit over the top to me? Just wondering if any of you who are very experienced have any thoughts on this or any other tips?
