Hi all,
Lost company key through hole in my pocket,
I work in construction and I never signed any contract joining.
I know it’s my fault but I’m being made to sort this they don’t seem to have a spare key or insurance that covers lost keys.
I called multiple locksmiths and they all say it’ll take 1-3 weeks as they need to order parts, it’s a new van and very rare so there’s no old keys on the market.
A new one has to be bought and coded costing up to 1500€ and I’m expected to cover this and he’s also expecting it to be sorted tomorrow. Which is not possible. At the end of the week at the earliest and it’s a huge expense for me I can’t cover atm.
I’ve accepted my mistake and apologised and I’m doing my best to sort it but I can’t.
What’s the move here? Am I liable?

Also can he threaten me legally does he have a leg to stand on?
