What Makes a Card Good? Cardrunners Episode 6

What Makes a Card Good? Cardrunners Episode 6

Hey Chooms, u/RedZoneRogue and I are back with another episode of our weekly cast! This one was really made for the newer TCG players in the audience - we wanted to get down to brass tacks and talk about the basics of card analysis in Cyberpunk, and where we start to get these ideas that certain spoiled cards are amazing, or trash, or whatever is in between!

Hope you dig that discussion, as well as a lengthy response to our last Make a Choice about set quantity per year, and some mailbag questions about how many boxes is too many, and if we will see colorless cards enter the fray!

See you next week with another!

Rules Changes and Conventions on the horizon! Cardrunners Episode 05 is here!

Hey Cardrunners! Kel and I are back again to join you while we all wait for the release of the game!

This week is our first time *actually* recording since late pledging ended, so this is a great time to talk about what comes next for CTCG! We can speculate on the teased rules changes as well as go through the con schedule in case you want to meet up with WeirdCo - or even us! - and jam some games with the new rules!

Plus, we discuss TCGs in Japan, a Make a Choice about how many sets per year the game should have, and dig into mailbag questions about building a local scene and the print size of set 1!

Hope you dig it as always, chooms!

Let's Play with the New Mantle!! Fire Umbra Alice Deck Profile!

Hey folks, this week I wanted to get a list for Fire Umbra Alice out because I really wanted to play with the new Mantle of the Abyss and see how much it helps her!

As with the last profiles, we include gameplay at the end to show off some of the deck's tricks!

I was pretty surprised at how much fun the deck is, and with all the influence you can generate early with our Barker/Wraithguard engine, once you hit level 2, you can really put the lockdown on a lot of decks! While there are other cool Alice strats like Oblation and Doppelganger, this uses the classic Spectral Haunting to hit a lot of what players fell in love with when she was first spoiled.

Give the list a spin and make the opponent suffer!

Hey Cardrunners, u/RedZoneRogue and I are back with another episode of the weekly podcast for you!

In this one, we are really honed in on Cyberpunk - so much so that we keep diving into crazy deck ideas (despite it being way too early!)

The main topic is a discussion of RAM - the deck building mechanic that I think really solidified both of our interest in the game, as players who have experienced every "color system" under the sun in other TCGs! We'll discuss what we find most fascinating about it for a while before we get totally sidetracked by some crazy Royce ideas.

Aside from that though, we've also got a chat about presales and how distribution works, a Make a Choice about whether or not V - Streetkid is a good card, and three mailbag questions covering a digital version of the game, collecting prize cards, and sentient vending machines!

Hope you dig another one, chooms! See you in there!

In our final pre-Nationals Season episode of RecStep, we dive into the impact of the new Banlist, and what's been winning events since it dropped!!

Is there something lurking in the meta, or are the waters wide-open right now? Let's talk about it!

Back with another in a series of weekly deck profiles - taking feedback, we've added on some commentated gameplay using Sandbox at the end to help you get a better feel for how the decks play!

Of course, today, we're going over a deck that many long-time players know well, just in a slightly different Wind shell to utilize Reclaim, Displace, and Aella for value, plus have access to better sideboard options.

But many players who have picked up the game may be less familiar with the Slimes competitive shell, and still many more could be surprised by just how effective it is with the return of Baby Gray Slime and the insane new Slime Calling!

Either way, let me know what YOUR favorite version of Slimes is - I do think Norm and Fire are slightly more competitive than Wind, but Wind is just so fun!

Hey Reddit chooms, we've got another weekly hit of Cardrunners for you - this time, we chose to tackle a topic we've heard in the early looks at the game - is Cardrunners a ripoff of Lorcana?

We've heard it said a number of ways, so in our main topic we'll dive into the full spectrum of what this means and give our takes on the matter as longtime TCG players. Plus, lots more discussion on things like the Kickstarter's conclusion and Parasitic game design, as well as our weekly Make a Choice - Which Color is our favorite right now? - and a couple of mailbag questions about alt-arts and prizes!

Hope you dig it, this one's a long one!
