Why did your long term friendship end? And was it you that initiated it or your ex best friend?

Currently dealing with the sorrow of wanting to end a friendship? It just has been weird energy and it doesn’t matter how much we talk it through, we end up fighting

Am I the problem?

I have been friends with this person for a few years. We met through a mutual friend/at our job. Throughout these years we’ve been through thick and thin and have shown up for one another. This year has been no different. Although, she got a new job but I continued working we still remained friends.

Up until July, I was planning things/asking her to hang out all the time. Going to a store was a hangout for us. Then last month, I became very depressed. I’ve always been opened about it and this time was no different. I sent a message to the group chat, with our other close friend, because I recognized my silent treatment was not within my character/I am depressed. That message sat on read for a few weeks until she confronted me about not showing up for her. I was caught off guard, as I was expecting a check in, not a confrontation. I don’t mind directness but I felt hurt by this. Then another confrontation happened that has left me in shambles. I think about continuing the friendship but when I do I become even more not okay. But then I think about ending it and the same feelings creep in. After our exchange, it left me not only questioning who I am as a friend, but who I am as a person.
