Already re-qualified for Gold and have time until October 31st to reach Platinum. With my upcoming round trips NUE-AMS-JFK and FRA-PVG-TAO, i'll reach 281XP. I will absolutely not buy SAF, since those are work trips and i don't see why i would spend my own money on this. I could either donate miles (i'm sitting on around 300k) or squeeze in a NUE-AMS-BLQ trip (instead of driving 10 hours to Italy) at the end of october which would give me 28XP.

I flew a bit more than usual during the recent months, so qualifying for Platinum again in the future is uncertain and lifetime status probably unrealistic. Except early access to the preferred eco seats, i don't really see another benefit compared to Gold. The second bag and lounge access are important for me, seat selection 72h before departure is usually fine.

So tell me people, are there any valid reasons i should still go for platinum?
Or should i rather just enjoy the 81XP roll over which will make reaching Gold again super easy?

Edit: Getting upgraded for free easier might be one benefit that just came to my mind.

Bisher strample ich mit meinem 15 Jahre alten Corratec (ein Crossbike, zumindest hiess das damals so) ein- bis zweimal pro Woche 11km einfach zur Arbeit. Ich muss sagen, es kostet mich als relativ unsportlichen und durchaus auch uebergewichtigen Menschen schon Ueberwindung, mich morgens um 6 aufs Rad zu schwingen. Das Erfolgserlebnis, endlich mal wieder etwas "Sport" gemacht zu haben ist zwar da, aber der innere Schweinehund siegt dann doch oft und ich steige dann ins E-Auto.

Letzte Woche bin ich dann mit einem Kollegen aus dem gleichen Ort gefahren, er E-Bike, ich ohne E - ich war komplett kaputt und durchgeschwitzt als wir im Buero angekommen sind. Die restlichen Tage hab ich mir dann das E-Bike vom Vater des besagten Kollegen geliehen und muss sagen, das war richtig entspannt!

Also soll nun doch ein E-Bike her. Ich kenne einen Fahrradhaendler ueber den ich ein Morrison Sub 3.0 (wohl ein Vor-Vor-Jahresmodell), ein sogenanntes E-SUV nagelneu mit Garantie fuer 2500 Euro bekomme, UVP ist 3999, im Internet gibt's das Rad auch so ab 2500.

Ist das eine gute Wahl? Mein Arbeitsweg ist hauptsaechlich Asphalt und ca. 2km unbefestigter Feldweg.

Was mich noch stoert ist mein Rucksack mit 2 Laptops und schlimmstenfalls noch einem Surface drin. Den habe ich auf meinem alten Rad immer auf den Kindersitz gepackt, welcher nur noch dafuer montiert ist, da die Kids inzwischen selbststaendig Rad fahren. Meine Idee waere, per MIK-Adapter eine Eurobox mit 400x300 zu montieren, was hier schon mal jemand gemacht hat:

Gibts dazu Erfahrungen wie sich so eine DIY-Kiste mit ca. 10kg Beladung verhaelt, auch wenn es auf dem Feldweg mal rumpelt?

Just flew JFK-AMS and KLM already announced a few hours before the flight that there "might" be a problem with the screens. Go figure, everything stayed dark for the entire flight, not just coach, also premium and business. Power outlet, at least the one below my seat and USB sockets also didn't work. KLM said they will provide compensation within 2 weeks. What can I expect? A voucher? Miles? If yes, how much/many?

Back in the day with Lufthansa you could negotiate with the purser and I usually got at least 5k miles for a broken screen.

Will be flying NUE-AMS-ATL-CLT next week and then back through CLT-JFK-AMS-NUE.
I fly AMS-ATL quite frequently, upgrading with miles is almost never possible and when it is, it's ridiculously expensive, like 65k for eco to premium.
On other busy long haul routes like PVG, NRT, PEK it's the same.

Surprisingly, in all the years i never flew JFK-AMS and was wondering if upgrades (eco to business) are easier to get for this leg?

I'm booked on a eco flex ticket and FB gold, if that matters.
