Traitors Canada S2 - Kyra

I'm just finishing E7 of Canada season 2, and I don't think I've hated anyone quite as much as Kyra. The only person who beats her is Sam from Australia, and that's a very high bar to clear.

The scenes where she's fully bullying Michael John were really difficult to watch. I felt so horrible when he kept apologizing and she just had her little smirk on. There was no real reason to go after him; I think she just didn't like him. Anyway, hope she loses.

Donations and faux generosity

Disclaimer - I am not nor have I ever been a Swiftie. I know some of her songs, have enjoyed some of them, and largely think about her as much as I do any other pop star.

But I see a lot about Taylor Swift's donations, in particular her fans and media coverage trying to push this narrative that she's somehow this uber generous figure, and it makes my eye twitch. I suppose you could make the argument that she isn't mandated to donate any of her money, but given the amount of taxes she avoids (not accusatory, just based on US tax law), she's paying WAY below what she would if she was being taxed correctly.

To be clear, a million dollar donation from Swift is roughly the same as someone who makes $160,000/yr donating $100 to a charity. This is not an amount worthy of a news article. This is not true altruism.

Humans have an extremely hard time comprehending how large a billion really is, which is why wealthy people get away with this PR stunts again and again and again.
