Plaquenil: how long before you saw improvement?
At the 6 week mark now. Wondering if it'll be another week, a month... everyone's different, I know. I'm just tired of these swollen joints and trying to hold out hope for relief.

Does anyone else have really bad midfoot swelling? Nothing else is swollen... I mean besides the bases of my toes. Like my ankles are normal. None of my shoes fit because of this. I've been on plaquenil for almost a month now, but I know it takes a few months to see a difference. If you deal with this, how long before the meds kicked in to make it subside? Did the meds make it subside? RA is so uncomfortable. I hate this for us.
Please tell me how your spinal tap went and what to expect. This just freaks me out.
Weight loss is difficult as I was just diagnosed with RA too, so my whole body is just not cooperating with me lately. Anyone take Ozempic to help with this? It was mentioned though I am not a big fan of that either.
My new rheum just prescribed plaquenil today + I already take amitriptyline for nerve pain... neither the doctor OR pharmacist mentioned there is a major interaction.
Both are closed right now.
Per google- "Heart Rhythm Complications: Both drugs can cause QT interval prolongation and QRS widening. This can trigger a dangerous, rapid form of ventricular tachycardia called Torsades de pointes, leading to sudden cardiac death."
I don't feel comfortable taking this together? Has anyone taken these together??
Can you tell me your experience while taking methotrexate & plaquenil?
Both have some serious side effects that freak me out - specifically the hair loss and retina damage. 😞 I would like to be pregnant in the near future, and I know you have to be off methotrexate before that. But at this point, I also just need this flare to end.
Discussing med options at my appointment coming up so I wanted to hear from people who have actually taken these! As opposed to what they simply suggest you take.
My PCP started me on 20mg prednisone while I wait for my first rheumatology appointment in about four weeks. My labs already came back confirming the suspected RA, but I still need the rheumatologist to officially diagnose and start treatment.
I only have about a week left of the prednisone, so I started tapering down today instead of stopping cold turkey next week. Today, my hands/knuckles got SUPER swollen out of nowhere, which I’m assuming is from lowering the dose and the inflammation coming back.
I know prednisone isn’t something you can stay on long term, especially at higher doses, but wow… this flare is rough already and I still have almost a month before my appointment.
Any tips for managing RA flares while waiting to see rheumatology? Things that helped with hand swelling/pain, stiffness, functioning day-to-day, etc.? I’d really appreciate any advice or hearing what helped others get through that waiting period. Right now it almost feels as if it's burning.
Anybody get swollen finger bases?? It's not really the joint, but the bottom of my fingers. I can't wear my wedding ring now. :/ they all look like this from the sides minus my thumbs.
I bought a couple jeans in Jan that still have tags but I need a different size now. Will they let me exchange it for the same pair, diff size? It's barely past the 60 days
