Value yarn destash

Value yarn destash

It's expensive to ship value yarn in small amounts, so I'm fitting as much as I can into a box to make it more efficient. I had aspirations of doing a lot of blanket making but life got in the way. Most, if not all, of the yarn is machine washable and a lot of it is in pristine rolls.

This is 16 pounds of yarn. Please don't ask me to divide it up! Price includes shipping. $55

PS--if anyone lives near the north side of Chicago and wants to pick up in the Lincoln Square area, let me know and that will basically knock $35 off the price.

WIP destash part 1

The best part of a new project is casting on (or making the first square if I'm crocheting). The worst is weaving in the ends. This means I have a number of started projects that will never be finished. Is anyone interested? I have a feeling that if there are people who understand me, there are others who love joining squares or figuring out how to make it work for themselves--or at worst, enjoy frogging someone else's work to get some yarn.

Honestly, the idea of giving something I've worked on to the thrift store just doesn't feel great and maybe someone here would like it instead.

The WIPs are free; shipping expenses include everything pictured plus a little extra for me to offset what paypal takes away. LMK if that's a problem for you and maybe we can work something out. Hope this can be a win win for us.

Packing success!

I just got back from a ten day trip to Turkey and Greece and was able to avoid checking bags thanks to Indyx! Deciding what to bring was so easy...there were a few foundational pieces (denim jacket, scarf, pants, and skirt) that I styled with various tops that were easy to hand wash. Aside from getting a little bored with my limited clothing choices and occasionally regretting that I didn't bring a sweatshirt (nights were colder than I had anticipated in Greece), I couldn't be happier with how things went. I always felt appropriately dressed for wherever I was going. I wound up not wearing a pair of shorts and a top but got tons of wear out of everything else and could have gone for a few more days with what I had.

My only big mistake was bringing way too many knitting projects. We were so busy that I didn't have time to sit down and work on what I brought!

I'm still working my way through my closet and learning about the app, and this success definitely makes me more motivated to keep it up. It's so interesting thinking about wants versus needs, and seeing what I really wear as opposed to what I've bought for my aspirational life. Thank you, Indyx!!

Link to closet to avoid violating sub rules. Feel free to check it out--I am not so great at styling myself and it could be hysterical to see how I might style others (plus I probably skew pretty old on this sub, so be forewarned) but am happy to give it a shot. What else would you have brought?

Last item in my box…

I was able to sell almost all of the items I sent in in a recent premium box except for this Sonia Rykiel skirt. Nothing fancy, but it is vintage, clean, great condition, and super versatile. If you need a wardrobe, staple, please get this. I reduced the price down so I make a few cents, but I would so much rather have someone on the sub get it then have ThredUp do its recycling nonsense.

Check out Sonia Rykiel Casual Skirt for $11.99 on ThredUp https://www.thredup.com/productyy/232669126

Where are the belts?

I've recently lost weight and am trying to style myself with more care. Since I have a waist, I keep thinking a belt would be cute, but I really have absolutely no idea what kind of belts people are even wearing now. Are they thick or thin, with big or smaller buckles? Do belts have to go through all the loops? Should I wear them over heavier things like sweaters or jackets? Waist or hips or in between? I have so many questions and when I search for belts here, the results that are coming up are crazy old, like more than ten years ago. Surely people are wearing belts now that lockdown is firmly in the rear view mirror. But I'm not seeing much, so I thought I'd ask:

How is everyone styling their belts? Pictures would be amazing. Unfortunately, I cannot share any pictures because, obviously, I haven't figured out how to wear a belt and thus have no belts to wear (except for an old Western belt from the 1980s with a tooled silver buckle and turquoise accents that my mom bought in New Mexico on a family vacation). Please give me some ideas and inspiration. I'm looking for a classic and effortless look, not super body conscious, but with enough contrast to add a pop to my usual neutral look.

My turn to share...

I've been loving the funny stories and descriptions of clothing done wrong on here. Now it's my turn to pay y'all back.

Sent in a lovely, comfortable Cavalli silk shift dress with a belted sash at hip height. My designer dresses are going through the verification process, but it looks like the sash alone made it through...as a tube top!

Speaking as someone who grew up in the '60s and '70s, it tickles me almost as much to know that the words "tube top" are still in play as to see my former dress split into two parts. I just hope the powers that be can unite the two that have been torn asunder. Silk doesn't do much as a tube top, from what I remember.

Hobbii, Amano, Drops, Berroco, Cloudborn, Assorted Mohair, and Books and Mags!

Hopefully the beginning of the end of the destash. Do you ever think you have unlimited time to knit sweaters and then it’s nine months later and you have four yokes on needles and just can’t face doing the sleeves? Welcome to my world.

My yarn is stored in a closet in lidded boxes or bins, or in the bags they were shipped in. Clean, non-smoking house and my two dogs are not allowed in the closet at all. There may be a stray dog hair in your yarn—I’ll do my best but need to disclose in case this is a big problem.

If you’re interested in anything, please post a separate reply underneath (as opposed to responding directly to what I’m writing right now. Tell me what you are interested in and then tell me you’ll dm me. In your DM, please include your zip code, your Venmo or Paypal account (I always use goods and services). DMs are also the place to ask me questions about the yarn, about bundling, and about any concerns you may have. Please don’t panic if I don’t get back to you right away. I’m heading off to work this morning and then I have to do a ton of yard work outside. I’ll have hours and hours tonight to go through everything and answer questions and update the listings.

I will mail everything on Thursday. So if you order and then want to order more (hallelujah!!!), there is time to bundle to save on shipping.

If it looks like someone has snagged the yarn you like (for some reason, everyone loves Hobbii!!!), don’t be afraid to put yourself down as a backup. People change their minds all the time. It’s not a big deal and you never know, right? Plus I might find something down the road. So ask!

Shipping: The yarn is located in the Chicago metro area. I use PirateShip thru USPS because it’s easier for me and cheaper to insure most yarn. I’ll always choose the cheapest option. If you live east of the Mississippi, shipping usually ranges from $7-11. West is about two dollars more. I’ve done a number of destashes, and it’s really unusual to have shipping costs exceed $17-$18. It’s also hard to keep them under $7. The heavy stuff (books and mags) will go by media mail which is around $5-7 depending on what you get.

I think that’s all the legalese. Now for the fun stuff!

Manuela coat in camel, size 40, purchased from MaxMax in the fall of 2025. I’ve been wearing a MaxMax Teddy coat for three years and thought I needed something a little more serious…but apparently, I don’t. I’ve worn it once and find myself reverting back to Teddy again and again, so it’s time to find Manuela a new home. I paid 1750 CNY plus 330 shipping (just over $300). It’s a beautiful heavy coat and in brand new condition.

I live in a non-smoking home and while I have dogs, the coat has been hanging in a closet that they are not allowed in.

For reference and sizing purposes, I’m 5’3” and weigh 120 lbs. I’m shaped like an apple with bigger shoulders and a wider torso (34C bra; hope that’s not TMI). It’s long on me and is cut wide enough to wear a sweater under it. It’s definitely long enough if you’re taller and would probably look better on you than me. Message me for pictures of me wearing it and it will give you an idea of how it fits from all angles.

I haven’t bought or sold any items in this sub before. I put together a feedback profile that contains screenshots from another buy/sell sub that I’ve done business on as well as recent eBay feedback. I know it’s scary to buy from an untested (although trustworthy) seller and if there’s anything else I can do to allay your fears or concerns, please let me know.

Asking $250 plus shipping from the Chicago area through Pirateship. I ship USPS and will insure the package for the cost of the coat. Please do your own quality control; once I drop off the package, I’m not longer responsible.

Thank you for reading a new seller’s post! Please DM me if you’re interested and hopefully I’ll be offering some really nice bags soon.
