How To Recharge Telcel Credit While in the US?

I normally go to an oxxo and give 200 pesos and I get the 200 peso plan automatically activated while in Mexico. How do I do this when in the US?

I checked online and there are sites like recharge that does this. Is this how it's done when you are in the US? I checked and google shows 200 pesos costs $11.45 which is the mid tier rate. I did this last time and it worked on the recharge website.

On the recharge website, it shows 200 pesos is $12.25 and the $2.47 service fee so that comes to $14.72 when using my US credit card. So it's about 3 dollars more than if you pay pesos at an actual oxxo. Is this site or other similar sites what people use when they want to keep their telcel plan active while they are in the US? I heard of a site like ding that as well but that one costs a bit more? I know all these sites do charge a service fee for it so I want to know which site people here use when they are in the US and need to recharge their telcel plan.

Some people suggested mitelcel but if I use that site/app, will a foreign US credit card work or it won't? The other thing is if I use mitelcel, I need to install it on my unlocked iphone but would I be registering my name with telcel though?

Someone did say mitelcel will not charge a service fee so it will cost less than recharge? But when you use mitelcel, are you registering your name with your number though when you do this?

Using Telcel While In the US?

Have an unlocked iphone that I use with a telcel sim card. I use my iphone while in Mexico and in the US with the telcel service. I am normally on the 30 day plan that has 3gb of data and costs 200 pesos. I believe lot of people use this same plan.

When I'm in the US, I typically add credit to my telcel number on a 3rd party site like recharge so I would get another 30 days and 3gb of data of telcel service. The thing is because I normally don't use up the 3gb of data, I have a lot of data saved up. I believe I have over 30gb data saved or more.

  1. Is there a data usage limit while in the US with telcel? If you have a 3gb data plan, you certainly can use all the 3gb while in the US before the 30 day runs out right? There is no 500mb data limit or anything like that right? However, what if you have 30gb of data due to saving data from previous months? Can you use 10gb in one month in the US or the entire 30gb if you choose?
  2. Is there a hotspot tethering data limit if you want to use the data from your telcel for an ipad or laptop while in the US? Meaning you might only have hotspot limit of 500mb per month only regardless if you have 30gb data saved in your account? So if you have 30gb worth of data, you can use the entire amount to hotspot while in the US?
  3. What service does it show you when you use telcel in the US? Previously it would always show T Mobile but it's mainly been showing Verizon and other times AT&T. Is that normal? The other thing is I noticed the data speed is pretty slow while in the US? I was actually surprised when I tested the speed, the towers actually showed Mexico location and not the US?
  4. How do you check your telcel balance and your data remaining? I read you are suppose to type in *133# and it shows it. That does work while in Mexico but for some reason nothing seems to show up when I enter that while in the US?
  5. How long can you use a telcel service with your unlocked iphone while in the US? Does telcel suspend service if they notice you been using telcel for many months while in the US without using it while in Mexico?

ESims Telcel Mexico Question?

Have a telcel sim card that I bought in Mexico a while back. I use it with my unlocked iphone. I use it while in Mexico and in the US. I read that you have to register your line by June 30th or your number gets suspended with telcel.

I like to know for those who buy an esim telcel online now while in the US so you can use it while in Mexico, what is the proper way to do this?

You have to first go to a website and buy telcel esim right? Which website do you go to do that? Now when you buy the esim, do you need to buy a specific plan immediately or not? The thing is it seems all Mexican cell carriers require you to register a Mexican number with a US passport so how does it work here? Do you buy an esim and a specific 30 day 3.5gb plan? Then you register your passport on the telcel website? Then once approved, you can start using your telcel number immediately while in the US?

Or do you just buy a telcel esim card first. You don't buy any specific plan yet. You then register the telcel number on the telcel site with your passport. Once approved, then you buy one of those monthly plans?

For reference, I like to get the 30 day plan that gives you 3.5gb worth of data. So how would this work if you want to buy a telcel esim card online and want 30 days worth of 3.5gb data? How much does the esim card cost and how much does that plan cost?

The thing is if i don't register my sim card online, I believe it gets suspended and not sure if I would access to the number again. So if I need to buy a telcel esim, how much are the total costs? I know a physical telcel sim card cost several dollars but a telcel esim card is free?

Telcel Credit And Mobile Data Transfer?

Does anyone know if you could transfer any credit balance or any mobile data gb from one telcel numbel to another telcel number? I did read that you can gift or transfer data allowance to another telcel number but only if these numbers are in the same account?

Say you have 300 pesos of credit on your telcel number. Could you transfer any portion of this to another separate telcel line. Like send 100 or 200 or 300 credit to another telcel number?

What if you have a lot of mobile data saved up. Say you reload your telcel number with 200 or 300 pesos every month and you rarely used up the 3 to 3.5gb worth of data. Now you could have 30gb worth of data that you probably will never use up. Can you transfer a portion of your data to another telcel user or share it with another user?

Say they are someone who adds 200-300 pesos every month and get 3 to 3.5gb of data but uses it very fast. I know one way would be if if you use your phone as a hotspot and share your hotspot password with them close by.

But besides that, you can't transfer any data you have to another telcel number right? Or you can with the gift or transfer data allowance but they have to be under the same account?

Telcel Registration Requirement?

Is it true that all telcel numbers and carriers from other Mexican carriers like AT&T are going to be cut if you don't register by June 30th? I had read earlier that this was the case and people said to not bother with it as they will most likely not enforce it. However, it seems they will be? I seem to get text messages every so often to register my number.

What about people who are US tourists and not a Mexico resident and want to keep a telcel number though and use it while in Mexico and in the US? I read you are suppose to go to a local telcel place and bring your passport to get the number registered but I heard lot of people had issues with this a while back? I heard people register with their CURP but that is only for residents though. How are people who are not residents registering then?

But if you are not in Mexico, there isn't a way for you to register then and you will lose your telcel number and any minutes or balance you have? I did read a lot of people especially local people don't want to register for privacy reasons but it seems like if you don't, you will lose your number?

I like to know how Americans who have no sim card now but buying one and how the registration works now? I assume you go to a telcel shop and buy a sim card first? Then you give them your passport for them to register you in the system? Then you give them 200 or 300 pesos to activate a plan for you. Then you start using it?

So unless you have a T-Mobile or US cell carrier that allows you to roam in Mexico, you have to register your telcel number? Has anyone here done this recently and had issues? I got to assume a lot of people's numbers are going to get cut because of this?

On the recharge website, it shows 200 pesos is $12.41 and the $2.50 service fee so that comes to $14.91. So it's about 20 percent more than if you pay pesos at an actual oxxo. What is the best and healthiest brand for canned sardines in Mexico? I read that canned sardines are best in either olive oil and water. I know there are so many varieties like canned sardines in olive oil, tomato sauce, chili oil, avocado oil, vegetable oil and all these other things.

There seems to be a few brands only that seem to have it in olive oil and it seems to be Pontos, Palacio de Oriente and Vigilante. How are these brands? There doesn't appear to be any canned sardines in water? I do notice the cans seem to range from $2.50 to $4 a can which seems to be similar to the US or maybe a bit more.

I did notice Dolores which seems to be a popular brand here for canned tuna and other canned food here has canned sardines but only in vegetable oil and I think tomato sauce.
