Did any artists share any political views (at the Woody Guthrie show lol)? What were they?

I only ask because Billy Bragg and Gang of Four (feat. Ted Leo) were billed and they’re pretty overtly political songwriters.

I also wonder what kind of contract or NDA artists had to sign to keep them from saying anything related to Palestine or Lebanon or even Iran given Wilco is what could only be described as a Zionist-adjacent band.

I’m a 39yo Met fan. Been watching them since the Dallas Green years. I consider myself a realist. I know with our current pitching rotation it’s almost impossible to conceive of this team even making the playoffs. I know the best thing in the world for this team’s future is a total fire sale.

And yet, with a lockout season looming, there is part of me that wants to see what this team can do with Bo, Soto, and Lindor all healthy. Our bullpen is stellar. McLean and Peralta can turn it around. And Holmes could potentially shore up this weakened rotation when he returns.

In any other circumstance, I would say, “Sell! Sell! Sell!” And perhaps a 2027 lockout is even more reason to do so. But I’m a fan. I’m not a GM. I can always punt until next spring. But next next spring? I’d rather the team try to defy the very long odds.

Given upcoming schedule, it’s hard to imagine them gaining too much ground in the next 30ish games. Basically we’re in “don’t collapse” mode. Get ready for a frustrating month ahead unless Lindor and Alvy both come back at the best they’ve ever been. Also, time to get a bag of balls for Vientos or DFA him. Literally the worst player in MLB.

All the necessary caveats off the bat: McLean feels a bit broken right now, Freddy is not an ace, and the rest of the rotation is question marks. This is not a playoff team right now (but I’m still not counting them out).

The post: It is so fun to watch this team right now!!! Soto, Benge, and Ewing budding bromance is awesome. Watching the kids play insane defense. Semien being a beast with RISP. Guys smiling and getting along. Finally pounding on the Marlins. Enjoy the good times with this team. Probably not gonna get us to the promised land, but I think it’s the beginning of something special.

Craig is doing a bit about candy. Who is this shit for? Also, why is he constantly trying to do the Seinfeld (show) thing of fast spoken repeated phrases and words? So cringe and unfunny.
