Has anyone successfully removed mothball smell from washing machine?

I washed a kimono in my machine a couple of days ago and the machine smelled strongly of chemicals after. I’ve thrown away the load and done a number of empty 90 degree washes using different cleaning products and vented inbetween (vinegar, baking soda, dettol 5in1 cleaner and Dylon machine cleaner). I’ve cleaned the drawer, seal and filter. The smell has drastically reduced but I think it still lingers, though my husband says he can’t smell it anymore.

I’m nervous to use the machine until the smell has 100% gone as I have a 3 month old baby and I don’t want to contaminate their clothing.

Has anyone successfully removed the smell? Is there anything else I should try? Or is this a lost cause.

The machine is only a year old, would cost £350ish to replace and recycle of the old one.

Thank you so much for any advice 🙏
