  • Zouden jullie zoiets gebruiken?
  • Welke functies missen jullie nog?

Het platform is pas net live en er staat nog weinig op, hopelijk komt daar snel verandering in zodat het steeds nuttiger word.

Alle feedback is welkom 🙂

What do you think of this Linux distro finder quiz?

I thought it would be fun to built a Linux distro recommendation quiz because I kept seeing the same “which distro should I use?” questions over and over again.

It's tricky to balance, so I’m curious if the recommendations make sense to experienced Linux users, or if I should tweak the scoring logic.

Help us improve LinuxJourney.org

Hi all,

I’m a volunteer on the team behind LinuxJourney.org. As many of you know, the original Linux Journey was taken over by LabEx and has become quite outdated. To honor the work of Cindy Quach, our team decided to build a better Linux Journey, a place not only for tutorials, but also for useful tools that help Windows users transition smoothly to Linux.

Linux is built by the community, and we believe this project should be too. We’d love feedback, ideas, and criticism from the Linux community so we can improve it together.

Here are some of the things we’re currently working on:

Linux Journey Tutorials

All tutorials are already online, but we have ideas to improve them further:

  • Update content to include topics like Flatpak, Wayland, and systemd
  • Add short summaries (TL;DRs) for people who want to learn quickly
  • Include practice questions after lessons

Windows-to-Linux App Alternatives

One thing we noticed on social media is that people constantly ask for Linux alternatives to Windows applications. Because of that, we created a page listing popular Windows apps and their Linux equivalents.

The list is still incomplete, but before expanding it further we’d like to know:

  • Would this setup actually be useful to you?
  • What apps do you think absolutely need to be included?

“Find Your Linux Distro” Quiz

We also created a small quiz to help new users find a suitable distro.

Right now we’re unsure whether:

  • The quiz should stay short and simple
  • We should add more detailed questions
  • Or create two versions: a quick beginner quiz and a more advanced one

What would you prefer?

Windows-to-Linux Command Translator

One team member suggested a command translator that converts Windows commands into Linux equivalents. We thought it was a fun idea, but so far it’s one of the least visited pages.

Do you think this is actually useful, or not really?

Practice Exams

Another idea we have is to add practice exams based on the tutorials, so users can test their Linux knowledge and revisit topics they struggle with.

If you have ideas, suggestions, complaints, bug reports, or things you feel are missing, please let us know. We’d love to make this a genuinely useful starting point for new Linux users.

Thanks!

Some more Member Berries here. This game is from 1988, but I always played this game with a school friend in the mid 90s after school. We had a more modern PC with 3Dfx graphics already, but this game was just so much fun. You could play indoor and outdoor, indoor the ball never went offside, outdoor you had rain, bigger field and crazy rain slidings. Another cool feature was that you had to control the goal keeper yourself, sometimes we made crazy safes. Being a goal keeper was difficult because this game had a feature called banana power, which was just making crazy curve balls.

We played this game for hours and hours every day, sharing a keyboard. I think it's one of the most fun games we played in the 90s, who else loved this game?

I'm living in Europe, and I often see women from Asia looking around in Europe using tinder passport mode. I usually swipe them left, but I was curious to see what happens, so I swiped a woman I liked to right, and we matched.

We talked for a month, and she tried really hard with all the flirting. But I was feeling suspicious, why would she put so much effort into a random guy that lives 10k km away? I was waiting for her to sell me crypto or something, but that didn't happen. I was wondering if she was real, so I asked her to video call and it was the same woman on the photos. It was awkward though, her English on chat was way better than in real life.

Eventually I tried to get to know her better, but every time she interrupted the conversation with flirting which started to annoy me, and didn't feel genuine. Sometimes I felt like talking to a romantic AI bot. So I asked her to flirt a bit less and have more real conversation, but she ended the conversation after that. Honestly, I still feel a bit sad about it. She seemed like a real person, and it's nice when someone is putting effort into it. I'm still confused, it didn't seem like a scam, she didn't ask for money, but what was the end game? I'm having mixed feelings, I miss all the sweet messages but my gut told me something was off.
