Chronically online people are PARANOID af

No judgement to people who are just beginning their digital minimalism journey. If anything, I hope this helps you reflect and motivates you to use socials in a healthier way...

Buuuut I notice that people online act strangely paranoid about those they disagree with being some kind of troll or "infiltrator" who needs to be "defeated." And it's even weirder because it's not, like, a troll coming into specific subreddits/online communities and spreading hate or making dumb meme posts for attention. Many users act this way even when it's JUST a person disagreeing with them or expressing an opinion that's not exactly the same as theirs.

As an example, I witnessed a discussion in the comments of a post here on reddit the other day where someone was comparing the cost of living in one country vs. another. User A was asking a question about it, user B responded in a really negative complain-y manner, then user A was like "I feel you but jsyk the problems you have also occur in other countries, you shouldn't over-romanticise one country just bc you visited it, don't move there without knowing what it's really like there in advance." Then user B got verrrryyyy tangential and ended accusing A of being a troll.

I sometimes read threads like this because they're more entertaining than reality TV lol but the people involved always seem genuinely unwell to me. Like, if you bumped into someone in public and they said something like user A, a response like user B's would make you sound absolutely deranged to everyone else on the sidewalk.

Idk the exact psychology behind this, but I theorize that some people who are very chronically online form their beliefs/worldview from the content they consume, and that kind of content then gets recommended to them so often that they forget their opinions are based on... like 10 randos from the internet rather than an actual community of many real-life humans who congregate together. It's really sad to see people who lack irl community act this way because I know that it's easier to be angry about their beliefs being challenged than it is to just... get offline. Think about the things that matter in the physical world. ykwim.

inner mouth piercings WITHOUT frenulum?

hi, I'm a self-piercer but have only done my ears and my wrist. I want to do a frowny or smiley or some kind of inner-mouth-only piercing but am veryyy uncomfortable with piercing my frenulum.

Is it safe to do a piercing in my mouth somewhere, like the skin on the inside of my lips? Any info, even if you have not done it yourself, is welcome!

if your stomach shrinks, should you still only eat what fits in it?

TLDR at end if you want it

This is NOT about weight loss where your stomach shrinks enough so you can eat "normal" portions. Rather, I mean "eating less" as in "eating very little because your stomach can't even handle a regular amount of food anymore."

I started OMAD some years ago and have (purposely) alternated between it and eating 2 regular-sized meals a day over time. But now, being just slightly overweight, I've gotten back into OMAD "dinner" (starts at 2pm, ends when I'm full, usually 4-5pm) and can only eat a little bit of food before feeling insanely despite stretching the meal out over the hours. I can handle, like, half a Chipotle burrito bowl (or 3/4 of a regular burrito... or most of a caesar salad but only when there's little meat). Howeverrrr, because I eat only dinner, I'm concerned that I don't get enough calories to make it through the next day. I haven't felt tired at all so far, and no other noticeable problems, but I'm afraid one day I'll start to be exhausted from the lack of calories and won't be able to drive home from work or something.

So my question is, is it safe to keep going with OMAD, given that I can barely eat much food/calories anymore? Or does the body just acclimate to it no matter how little? If relevant, I don't even know how many calories I've been eating, I just stick to meals that are balanced and healthy and stop when I'm full.

I don't smoke, only use edibles. I stopped this week but for the past 2 months or so I've been taking 1 bad days edible gummy per night to fall asleep. Every time I take them, or any other edibles no matter the brand/dose/etc, I wake up the next morning feeling groggy and muddled like I'm still a bit high.

The feeling goes away after 2-3 hours but idk where it came from as I used to take Bad Days once in a while last year (always at nighttime, always a full edible, same as I do now) and I would wake up feeling normal, as if I never used an edible.

Is this normal? And any way around it besides just stopping? (since I've already stopped and don't plan on continuing daily consumption anyway, lol, I fixed my sleep schedule and everything)

Hi, hope this type of post is within the rules. Anyone have meal ideas/experiences that don't take too long to prepare and then to heat up/put on a plate?

I'm doing breakfast OMAD and have 2 hours of time each morning to eat before work. I have been looking through this sub and other places for meal ideas and think pretty much all of it is good as hell, BUT it mostly seems like food that takes a while to cook and then to heat up, put on a plate, etc.😔I'm looking for meal ideas (not just individual foods... I do love the canned beans and oven-made salmon though, LOL) that can be cooked in an amount of time that's not, like, 8 hours. Anyone have things they've made that are like this?

Yes, for mechanical pencils.

Here's a ridiculous one you've probably never read before - is there anything I can put into a mechanical pencil to make it function more like a gel pen? I specifically want the smooth writing experience where I can write without pressing my hand down onto the paper.

Context since the obvious answer is just "get a gel pen lol":

I am weirdly hooked on the idea of refillable stationery, like fountain pens where you just refill from bottled ink instead of buying plastic refills every time. I've tried many experiments to refill a gel pen with bottled ink, which didn't work. I also know that mechanical pencils are refillable with pencil lead. I also, alsooo know you can't just put ink into a mechanical pencil since that would leak everywhere.

Now I'm looking for some combination. Mechanical pencil with some kind of substance/implement that allows for very smooth writing as if using a gel pen.

The only idea I have for this is to put an ink stick into the mechanical pencil, though I think ink sticks are supposed to be ground up, not just used like crayons.

Literally any perspective on this would be appreciated, even if you don't know what the hell I'm on about or think it's impossible, LOL

New body parts = the eczema occurs on a body part it hasn't before... not that I generated new body parts that are now getting eczema LOL

I have had lifelong mad eczema on my legs and arms that I just started managing with a prescription. Howeverrrr, I now also exprience eczema in my ears that I have never had before. No idea where it came from, none of the prescriptions I use are helping, etc, but basically the skin in my ears and ear canals is peeling and (TMI?) the wax is much darker than normal.

Any other experiences with this? Feel free to either explain what helped or just gripe about your own suffering. We're in this together, comrades 🫡

Hi, all. Direct me to the right sub if this isn't it, but does anyone know where to find deleted scenes from Harold & Maude? This trailer has some scenes (1, 2, 3) that weren't in the film, and I'd love to see what else was filmed.

This movie resonates in such a refreshing new way every time (of the hundred or so) I watch it. I find new symbolism and details every time. It is such a treat, especially if you like to analyse!
