Night weaning help needed
My 15 mo old wakes every hour to comfort nurse. She is not nursing during the day, only at night. She’s refused a bottle and a pacifier her entire life. She’s co slept and nursed the entire night up until now. Her latch has become very poor and she has injured me now with her poor latch and I need stitches now, and I’m at my breaking point so I need to wean her.
This past week we got her a flood bed and my husband has been sleeping in there with her, she goes about 2-3 hours and wakes up and wants to nurse. She becomes inconsolable when I do not let her nurse and she screams till her voice is raw, she will throw up from screaming and stop breathing and I’ve caved and nursed her so we can all finally sleep…
I tried vinegar last night to deter her from nursing and she wasn’t even phased and nursed through it. I’m trying bandaids today and showing her “they’re all gone” and she tries to latch and gets frustrated when she can’t.
Tonight I’m planning on sleeping with her in her room and handling every wake up and just trying to let her latch and saying “all gone” and rocking her, singing to her etc anything to soothe her.
What else can I try because I know tonight’s going to go horribly?
She eats wonderfully during the day, has a daily multi vitamin, we do a bath, and a banana before bed ( she’s allergic to avocado so I can’t give her those). I understand night wake ups are normal and I don’t mind those, I just want her to wean so I can heal my breast and we can get better sleep because she’s waking just to nurse…
