Choices
You encounter a young boy on his own. He doesn’t go to school so you offer a deal; in exchange for helping around the farm he can stay with you and get an education.
If he’s white he bunks in the loft with your daughter inside the house and you go to some lengths to adopt him. He wants to become a doctor and you encourage him in every way.
If he’s black he sleeps in the soddy. He also wants to become a doctor and when he becomes discouraged you essentially say yeah, well, that’s how it is and buy him a ticket on the stage.
What’s the message Charles?
