Which one is better suited for me: FiiO K13 R2R, K17, or K17 R2R?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using the Sennheiser HD560s paired with a Rodecaster Duo for quite a while now. I’m finally ready to take a real step up in audio quality and just enjoy the experience. My primary use case is general PC use (music, media, and gaming).

Years ago, I owned a Sennheiser HD 700. Its spatial imaging and directional audio in games were so incredible that people often accused me of wallhacking. That’s the kind of soundstage and precision performance I’m chasing again.

Right now, I’m leaning towards the HiFiMAN Arya Organic as my next headphone, though my ultimate dream endgame is still the Sennheiser HD 800S.

While headphone recommendations are always welcome, my immediate goal is to choose the right DAC/Amp setup. I'm currently torn between these three options:

  • FiiO K13 R2R
  • FiiO K17
  • FiiO K17 R2R

Given my current setup and future upgrade path (Arya Organic / HD 800S), which of these units would you recommend for my use case, and why? I’d really appreciate it if you could share your experiences and insights!

Thanks in advance!

Do you think the HD 800S is the right choice for me?

Hi everyone,

I’m in the market for a new daily driver headphone setup and would love to get your input, especially from those who have experience with Sennheiser's upper tier or transitioned between Sennheiser and HiFiMAN planars.

My primary use case is general daily desktop use—a mix of gaming (including competitive shooters), movies, and music.

Ever since I sold my Sennheiser HD 700 five years ago, I haven't been truly satisfied with any setup. Back then, I could pinpoint enemies in games with incredible precision—it almost felt like I had a radar. I haven't found a single pair of headphones since that delivered that exact same level of satisfaction, imaging sharp-ness, and spatial presentation.

Right now, I am stuck between three major contenders:

  1. Sennheiser HD 800S
  2. HiFiMAN Arya Organic
  3. HiFiMAN Arya Unveiled

My main dilemma is whether the Planar magnetic options (Arya Organic / Unveiled) can offer that holographic, pin-point spatial accuracy I miss from the HD 700, or if I should stop overthinking and go straight for the HD 800S to fill that void.

As for driving them, I’m currently planning to buy a FiiO K13 R2R DAC/Amp. If you think there are better DAC/Amp alternatives for this specific match (especially for pairing with the HD 800S or HiFiMAN planars), I’m completely open to suggestions.

Budget isn't an issue—I just want to make the right choice that gives me that "wow" factor again in both competitive positioning and daily enjoyment.

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Ulanzi DS60 vs. Amaran OctaDome 60 for Amaran 120c ?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to get a 60cm softbox for my Amaran 120c. I mainly shoot short-form gaming content (Minecraft) sitting at my desk, so the light will just stay mounted in my room full-time. I won't be traveling or breaking it down constantly.

I’m currently torn between two options:

  • Ulanzi DS60: Noticeably cheaper.
  • Amaran OctaDome 60: More expensive, but obviously matches the light's brand.

Since it's a "set and forget" situation in my room, will the Ulanzi be good enough, or is the fabric, build, and light quality of the Amaran actually worth the premium price? I don't want to buy the cheaper one and regret the material quality later.

Has anyone used either (or both) and can share their experience? Thanks!
