Returning M4s - popping noise

I like EDM and I like it loud, not the best for my ears I know, but I should still be able to when I want it. I can’t do it with these cans because it literally hurts my ears when it pops like it does in the video.

Does this happen to everyone at max volume or did I just get a faulty unit?

HD599 SE or HD560s?

I've been using budget bluetooth headphones for a very long time and I've never used anything "good". I was looking at some open back headphones and saw the Sennheiser hd 599 SE for 80 dollars on Amazon and the hd560s for 100 dollars. I was wondering which one I should get. I'll be using both from my built in headphone jack on my phone, the 599 has a 50ohm impedance and the 560s has a 120 ohm impedance, I'm not really sure if that should be a deciding factor. I was wondering which one i should go for? I think either of them would be a big upgrade over what I have currently.

Am I crazy for preferring the M4's design over the M5's?*

*To the point where I genuinely think the M4's are a better product.

Not just the deal (the M4's in my country are $250 vs M5's $470). I've never had ANC and coming from the PC38x I'd expect even a mediocre ANC and both of their sound profiles to be an upgrade. I just think the M4's uniform color looks better without the silver accents on the cups and the circle around the logo on the headband; they are too much imo. But the M5's case is a big upgrade.

Is it crazy to go for the M4's just because I kinda prefer them visually? I'd appreciate the saved money but I'd have no issues paying the extra 200$ if I thought M5 are the better product.

I'm seriously considering buying the M4's but going on FB Marketplace in 6 months and shooting sellers of the M5's $50 offers just for their case + USB-C to C cable lol.

Replacement ear pads?

The pads on my HD800S are worn down. I'm not sure if I should but og pads or go 3rd party. I don't trust hifi YouTubers 😬.

Does anybody here have experience with different pads and can you recommend something?

Hello (again)

So I have the Momentum 4 headphones again. Although I owned them in 2024, I sold them due to occasional malfunctions. I chose to remain with the Momentum 4 TWS instead, and now in 2026, I’ve tried them once more—with satisfaction.

Any recommendations for a set of gaming headphones?

Now I know that this brand is more of an audiophile brand, but after Markiplier using a set for well over a decade for everything from gaming to podcasts, I'm curious if I could find a set suitable for gaming and video editing. I've had Momentum 4 wireless headphones for 6 months now and loved the quality, and now I want a wired set. I've become a big fan of this brand already, so I want to get into it properly now. Closed and open headphones are both in my scope.

HDB 630 Insane Deal?

So, I was interested in getting the new Momentum 5, as I lack a closed back wireless headphone for ANC and the like (currently use a Grado GW100x and it's amazing)

When I was perusing Best Buy for the beautiful Denim color Momentum, I noticed the HDB 630 had an excellent open box deal...and I don't think I made the wrong choice here.

Anyone try both that can share their experiences? 😎

Now I get it, why open back headphones are SO LOVED by people.

I just received my very first pair of open-back headphones HD660S2.

Initially decided to purchase HD600 but after reading a lot of reviews, I bought these thinking that these might be it for me, and they sound phenomenal. I mostly listen to instrumentals for 2-3 hours a day at least.

They are something which I don't think I truly put into words as of now. I mean wow.
Hooked them up with my Fosi K7 and Fosi DS2. They sound so so so freaking good.

I do have a few IEMs and headphones, but the soundstage and crispiness I am getting from these is freaking amazing.

Dont buy the mtw4s, avoid it completely (unless you have cash to burn)

The sound quality of these earbuds are amazing but their durability is worse than my old fake airpods. Im happy the mtw4 has 2 years warranty because i had to find customer service 3 times. The biggest issue was one earbud suddenly dying. This earbud can survive barely one year maximum, i had replaced mine 3 times on warranty already

now the warranty has ran out since it has been 2 years already . Hope they fix this durability issue in the future. Will use boses tws from now on and use Sennheiser or hifiman for headphones

Sennheiser Momentum 4 vs Nothing Headphone (1) vs Sony WH-1000XM5

I’m trying to decide between the Sennheiser Momentum 4, Nothing Headphone (1), and Sony WH-1000XM5. Where I live, all three are available for roughly the same price, so price isn’t really helping me decide, plus they are on sale so have to decide quickly.

I’ve wanted the Nothing Headphone (1) for quite a while because I really like the design and the physical button/roller controls. From what I’ve read, people generally seem to prefer those over touch controls. But I keep seeing people say that the Momentum 4 has noticeably better sound quality, which is making me reconsider.

The problem is that I don’t know whether I would actually notice or care about the sound-quality difference. I haven’t used any premium headphones before, so I have no reference point. I’m not an audiophile, but obviously if the difference is genuinely noticeable even to a normal listener, that matters.

My main concerns/questions are:

- Sound quality: How big is the real-world difference between the Momentum 4 and Nothing Headphone (1)? Is it something a non-audiophile would immediately notice, or more of an enthusiast-level difference?

- ANC: I’ve heard the Momentum 4 has weaker ANC. But how much weaker is it actually? Slightly worse than Nothing/Sony, or bad enough that it defeats the point of buying premium ANC headphones?

- Controls: The physical controls on the Nothing seem much better to me than touch controls, at least on paper. For people who have used both styles, is this actually a meaningful advantage in daily use?

- Water/dust resistance: Nothing has IP52, while the Momentum 4 doesn’t have an official IP rating. How much should I care about this? I assume the Momentum 4 won’t just get damaged from a tiny bit of sweat or light moisture, but I’m not sure how cautious I’d need to be.

- Build quality and durability: I don’t know much about the long-term durability of the Nothing or Momentum 4. I’ve also heard about hinge issues with the XM5, which concerns me.

- Sony XM5: My brother already owns the XM4, and from what I’ve heard, the XM5 isn’t a massive upgrade over the XM4. Since I can already use/experience the XM4, I’m wondering whether buying the XM5 even makes sense for me.

I’ll mainly use them for music, general everyday listening, studying, travel, and probably some movies/videos. I care about sound quality, but I also care a lot about convenience, controls, ANC, comfort, durability, and the overall experience of actually owning and using them every day.

Right now I’m emotionally leaning toward the Nothing Headphone (1). But I’m worried I might be choosing them over a clearly better headphone in the Momentum 4 just because of aesthetics and buttons.

For people who have actually used two or more of these: which would you choose at the same price, and why?

Momentum 5 UK Preorders from official store - has yours shipped yet?

I preordered my Denim Momentum 5s at around 7:45am on the day preorders opened (23rd June) but my order still hasn't shipped. At this rate it seems unlikely it'll arrive in time for the estimated date of July 6th unless they are fulfilling orders at the weekend and the international shipping is faster than expected.

Someone the other day said that theirs shipped a few days ago - they ordered in the evening on that day, so I'm just trying to figure out what's going on and if others are in the same boat or my order has been somehow lost.

It's kinda annoying as this was a "preorder" which you would generally expect to be fulfilled in time, but it turns out I could have just grabbed them straight from John Lewis a couple of days ago.

Momentum 5 vs HDB 630

Obviously not the first time this has come out but now that more are getting the Momentum 5's in hand wanted to see if I can get help with this comparison. Many reviewers just state that the HDB is better sonically and then leave it at that. I purchased an HDB 630 recently on an open-box deal for $327 and didn't really fully consider the Momentum 5s yet at $399.

I wouldn't fully consider myself an audiophile but I do appreciate a more neutral and clear sound and so far the HDB630 with the dongle has been amazing in terms of the clarity and soundstage. The parametric EQ is great to have but as I said, I'm not a super technical audiophile and not really experienced at tinkering with the EQ.

I'm stuck with whether or not the additional features of the Momentum 5s such as dolby atmos make up for the more consumer oriented tuning, especially given the fact that I'm effectively paying less for the HDB 630. My other thoughts are that the Momentum 5s may be a little more versatile with listening to non-music sources as well such as movies (where I think dolby atmos may be something it would benefit from).

The ANC for the HDB630 is completely adequate for my uses so not really a consideration.

I would want wireless lossless so I'd buy the BT700 dongle if I went with the Momentum 5 so it would basically be $460 for the Momentum 5 + dongle vs $327 for the HDB630, which when I look at that makes me think the 630s are staying with me lol

Appreciate the insight!

Balanced cable for HD650

Hello all,
I just ordered a pair of HD 650. Because the cable is 3m long I want something short and I am considering a balanced cable of 1.5/2m. Why balanced? Well my source is going to be the Hiby W4 that should push them but doesn’t have infinite power, probably going balance will give me enough headroom.
Anyway, I am looking for this cable and the original Sennheiser is 79€, makes no sense.
On AliExpress and Amazon there are like 100 different brands that make all similar products. The only brands that stands out is openheart but I am open for advice. I would prefer something that is highly available here in Europe and that doesn’t cost more than 30€ (not an hard limit but I don’t want to go crazy).
