Today is an exciting day!
My wife surprised me with these on my birthday 🤘
At home I use my HD800S but these will be my on the go headphones.

Edit: Thanks for all the helpful replies! Fully appreciate that my ears may never know the difference between 16 and 24-bit 😄 I’m mostly just curious why Spotify offers me 24-bit, even on specifically 24-bit tracks, and then serves up 16, while Qobuz happily sends 24-bit through the same setup. At this point it’s more technical curiosity than anything else!
Edit edit: Despite having Lossless switched on, “auto adjust” was also switched on, which was throttling the quality based on my connection strength. With that switched off, 24 bit has kicked in.
I recently bit the bullet and bought a pair of Sennheiser Momentum 5, really enjoying them and don’t know how I lived without a pair of headphones like these.
There’s one issue that’s proving tricky to troubleshoot: getting Spotify to play 24-bit audio.
iPhone 15 connected to the headphones using the original Sennheiser USB-C cable. Bluetooth turned off. Spotify set to lossless quality on both WiFi and mobile data.
Spotify shows “highest track quality available: Lossless 24-bit / 44.1 kHz” but “playing quality” stays at Lossless 16-bit / 44.1 kHz. It’s not a toggle option, and my frantic tapping didn’t change that.
I started a trial of Qobuz and it was immediately happy to stream a track offered at 24-bit / 192 kHz, with playback through the Momentum 5 showing 24-bit / 48 kHz.
So at least Qobuz appears to be sending the highest quality the current output path is negotiating, rather than falling back to 16-bit.
Am I missing something here? A setting? A limitation of this setup? A reason to buy the BTD 700? That final option is on my list, but would like to figure this out as well. Thanks for any advice!
I bought a pair of momentum 4 about 6 months ago and wore them on my trip in Europe last month, with the record heat wave, and was sweating a lot and after about a week of this they started crackling in the left ear cup and I have tried to fix it but there is no solution and they appear to be ruined nothing short of needing service 😔
I'm wondering if they're going to give me any sort of decent options or if they're going to try and make me pay like 70% of MSRP which is more than I can currently get another pair for, since they're going for about 50% of original MSRP right now
To anybody who owns a s26U and hdb630: are you using the dongle or Bluetooth? Can you hear the difference? And battery: how is the battery drain while using the dongle?
I want to upgrade from my Sony wh-ch720N. I listen to electronic music and am considering buying the HD 490 Pro. Are these good if I want to listen to music at home to relax? I am not planning on producing.
I have an iPhone 14 Pro and using Apple Music. I already turned off Sound Check. I just got the Momentum 5 but I don’t really notice a difference from my Bose QuietComfort 2 earbuds. I’m sitting in a quiet room so it’s not outside noise. I change the EQ but barely notice a difference. I even switched to SoundCloud to make sure it was not Apple Music.
I currently use the Reduce Loud Audio at 85 dB. I try to not go over 85 for ear safety but is that my issue here?
I just got the Sennheiser mtw4's but I feel kind of underwhelmed by the anc level, I feel like the pixel buds pro have much more noticeable anc level when compared to the mtw4 even though they're much cheaper, but anc is the only iffy thing because the sound quality definitely blows everything else in range out of the water..
Wanted this pair of Momentum 4's for my Bday back in July, didn't get them until now! (Amazon is a pain in the ass)
Absolutely adore this brown/beige color.
Expensive Headphones... bought them 3 years ago shortly before the release of the 660S2. Always well cared for, always put in a protective case.
Now there is only sound on one side. Checked the Cable and Contacts, both are fine. This happens of course shortly after the warranty is over.
Repair quote by Sennheiser is 213 EUR, about half the original cost. I´m utterly disappointed in the quality, all my cheap in ears lasted longer.
Now is there a way for me to somehow exchange the left driver or repair it myself for cheaper?
My M4 are broken. I need to buy new ones but cannot decide between M5 or HDB630.
I'm an audiophile and have a full stack setup at home. My daily drivers are 650 and 800S.
Would the 630s sound more like what I have at home?
Would that justify the price, worse ANC etc?
Don't get me wrong, HDB 630 are a great pair of headphones, but... they look kinda mid. Earcup width is little too wide and I also don't like the black color. The blue and white variants of Momentum 5 just look awesome and it's not even close.
HDB 630 are phenomenal when it comes to soundtrack music. Hans Zimmer, OSTs of Minecraft, Subnautica, KCD. This is where they peak imo. However. I also listen to energetic music and I'm sorry to say this, but I miss the kick of EQed XM4 and Momentum 4. Parametric EQ is great and all that but you just can't achieve anything you imagine (skill issue?). Neutral setting sounds the best after all.
Am I reasonable or just an idiot who bought audiophile headphones while not actually being audiophile?
I have an iPhone 16, for reference.
I have heard that most people can’t tell the difference between normal codecs and lossless.
I’m a noob when it comes to audio…
But is it worth it to get the BTD 700 with the Momentum 4?
Any insights are welcome.
Thank you all!
I'm using the HD800S as my daily driver and I love them!
I'm currently looking for something wireless I can take with me on trips etc.
I wonder if the HDB 630 would be a good fit. How do they compare to the 800S in terms of tuning, overall sq, sound stage and comfort?
So I'm cheap you could say. I very much don't like throwing around money for new stuff all the time. But I inevitably end up having to buy new headphones every 2 years because the pieces of sht are built from cardboard. Something is utterly wrong with consumerism in this culture, where a 300 USD headset breaks after 2 years of normal use and it's always the same sht, where an inexplicable loose connection shows up in one of the cups and I apparently have to buy a soldering iron with my fucking headset, because that's a requirement to owning tech in this piece of sht world. Long story short: My momentum 4 is broken.
I'm really enjoying the sound quality in momentum 4 especially the personalization. I'm thinking of upgrading to another pair for listening. I've heard great reviews about hdb-630 sound quality. Anc is currently not my priority. However, does the extra cost justify the returns? Is the hdb-630 sound "flat" and an acquired taste? Anyone who owns hdb-630 could shed a light on this.
I'm very disappointed. I've been using the M3s for years as my primary gaming headphones but after my second pair started to malfunction I decided to "upgrade" to the M5s. Well, that was a mistake. They are irrecovably stuck in HFP "communication" mode on PS5. Yes, I have done every possible thing to attempt to fix this.
I have cycled every possible audio setting repeatedly. I own an external mic but every time I plug the M5s in they immediately default to that mic. I did find a workaround for getting them to recognize the external mic but it fixed nothing. Support was unhelpful, basically told me "yep that's by design". So yeah, fair warning console users, maybe just stick with the M3s. Debating picking up a third pair although this experience left a real sour impression.
I find like the Momentum 4.
Got them 2 weeks back, out of the box they sounded damn flat. Tried their sound personalization and still they sound shitty.
Also volume is too low in 60s - 70s range.
I don't feel any base under 90% volume.
Gave them 2 weeks soo that they can grow on me but still no fun listening them.
Yes the sound is clear but I am not an editor or an audio engineer.
The ANC is the shitty, can't even block the fan or tv noices, I hear everything pretty clearly.
I have oneplus 3 buds and jbl 510BT before this and I swear I enjoy them both.
My first sennheiser and I am quite disappointed.
They customer care service is out of the blue, takes 2-3 days to reply(in which they are asking more time).
