Unpredictable nap lengths at 6mon

Baby was sleep trained for night sleep at 5 months and she's doing great! Sometimes wakes for 1 feed after about 8 hours but recently has been sleeping through the night for about 10.5/11 hours!

About 2 weeks after night sleep, we nap trained and she's able to fall asleep independently. The problem is the duration. There are some days she can do 1.5 hours or so but last few days it's been constant 30-40 minute naps. Currently on a 3 nap schedule with 8pm bedtime and 7am wake up and ~10.5 hours awake. 2.5/2.5/2.5/3.

She seems to be able to do 3+ hour WWs comfortably and we tried to switch to 2 naps but with the 30 minute wake ups, that doesn't work for her schedule.

Is this just age-related or a schedule issue?

Early morning wakings with sleep training

Our baby used to wake up every hour or 2 after the 4 month sleep regression hit. We started sleep training(Ferber) for independent sleep last week and it has largely felt like a success. She cried for about 12 minutes the first night before falling asleep. Night 2 was about 3 minutes of crying and subsequent nights there hasn't been any crying at bedtime, she just sleeps almost instantaneously. She is able to do around 5-6 hours for the 1st chunk and after feeding can go back to sleep pretty quickly. This is usually around 2am. However, her 2nd chunk is not typically 3 hours

(We are trying to follow 5/3/3 for night feeds). She has been waking between 4:30-5:30a some days. I have fed her and transferred her to the crib asleep a couple of times, other times she cries.

I've read that early morning wakings are tough to fix and it might be ok to use rocking/holding to sleep. Is this true? Should we continue holding to sleep or let her cry it out using Ferber for the morning wakings?

We follow a 10-hour awake schedule with 8pm bedtime and 7am start of day. Wake windows are typically 2.25/2.5/2.5/2.75 with naps capped at 3 hours.

4.5 month old regressed see on independent sleep

Longtime lurker and first time poster in this subreddit that has provided a lot of validation and support through some rough nights.

Our 4.5 month old has been sleeping in her crib/bassinet since day 1. By ~2 months, she could go 7-9 hours straight, with just a dream feed.

But around 3.5 months, right after a few rough nights of arms out, we got hit with sleep regression, where she would wake up every 2-3 hours. Somehow that seemed to get better in the past week where we would do our night routine(feed, bath, lotion, sleep sack/lullaby) and she would fall asleep independently in the crib.

But she seems to have suddenly regressed again to only falling asleep on our shoulder and now waking up almost every hour. Seems more fussy during the day too and seems to have some separation anxiety when she doesn't see us.

Current schedule:

Wake - 7:30am

Nap 1 - 9:30-11am

Nap 2 - 1:15-2:45pm

Nap 3 - 5-5:30pm

Bedtime - 7:30pm

Night feed 1 - 10:30pm (or around then) 3oz

Night feed 2 - 3am 2oz

  1. Thoughts on what may have caused the regression after about a week of independent sleep?

  2. We are planning on formally sleep training in 2 weeks(after a short trip). Any advice on Ferber vs CIO extinction for a baby that seems to have a sleep association to being held?
