Burner Plus Irons, thoughts?
Guy I golf with couple times a month was telling me he had some old Taylor Made Burner Plus irons he was looking to part for $100, complete set 5-AW. He’s had them since I think before 2010 originally for his sons but they never got into the habit.
He brought them over, they’re moderately used not in bad shape at all, little cleaning and they’ll look a lot better. I took them to the range and they definitely felt different from the topflite clubs I’m currently using which I’m not a big fan of….they’re okay just not my cup of tea but all I could afford.
Looking online it seems the going rate is about 150-250+ depending on the condition so for me it seems like a fair price for a complete set.
What do you guys think?
Did I Do Good?
I mostly play with a top flight set of clubs but my dad had been a TaylorMade player majority of his hobby. I wasn’t happy with the TF driver at all and been eyeing QI35s and 4Ds for about a month to no avail due to pricing and availability. I was about to pull the trigger on a 4D Max but lo and behold I came across the 10 Max and looked it over. It uses a 50g A shaft and was at a default 12 degree loft. I gave it a few hits on the simulator and was pretty impressed as my carry distance and angles were more consistent than the 4D I was hitting at a 50g Reg 11.5 adjusted.
Plus the price after $10 off coupon brought it down to $348.
Took it out on Sunday, made an additional adjustment to bring it to 14 degrees and my hits have been fairly stable compared to other drivers I tried. Think my best shot was a 224 carry total at 240 stop and I wasn’t even smashing it since it’s a senior flex driver.
So yeah I really like this driver a ton.
He was Loved
I’m posting this for my old man as tribute. This was Billy, not your so typical Orange boy who my dad took in when he lived in an apartment complex over 14 years ago. Billy was abandoned by his previous humans when they moved out and didn’t bother taking him along. It took my dad close to a month to earn Billy’s trust and preferred to be living outdoors due to all the dogs and cats he had at the apartment. Then on 2013 he was moving and didn’t want Billy left alone so he scooped him up and took him along.
Billy acclimated to being an indoor/outdoor cat for the next 13 years.
Sadly, his health had dramatically declined in recent weeks, and his kidneys began to quickly go down the tubes.
Dad decided it was probably time and gave Billy the peace he deserved.
