Code Geass collection complete.

I used to have the Bandai limited edition sets and I always regretted letting them go. I’m excited to dive back into this series and revisit all it has to offer.

[Mixtape] #25 - I can still feel the nostalgia in my body…

I really, really enjoyed the entire experience this game provided. The writing, music, voice acting and visuals were all outstanding. The mini games were a blast (except for those *#%!ing fireworks) and the story has a super satisfying conclusion.

As someone who was a high schooler during the decade portrayed, the way Mixtape hit home just blew my mind.

Now I’m going to put my hand on ice after the one trophy that it seems most everyone has a hard time with.

GATE Limited Edition Blu Ray DVD Combo

I really love this limited edition. There’s so much to the hardcover guidebook, the theme of the whole package is on point and the replica axe is wicked. I wish there were more LEs made like this. Frieren is the only one I can think of in recent history that came close (and surpassed) this kind of set.

Any others?

“I Am Atomic.” The Eminence In Shadow is one of my favorite guilty pleasure series.

I totally see why The Eminence In Shadow is a bit divisive. Once I understood the premise and its running gag, however, I fell for the unique brand of comedy and all the heavy handed, over-the-top edginess. It’s become an all-time favorite guilty pleasure comfort food.

Plus, the LE Blu Ray box sets and hardcover light novels are so pretty. If you’re wondering why I have two of the manga volume 1, it’s because I’ve been learning French so I started buying second hand copies of manga and light novels in French as extra practice.

If you haven’t seen this series yet and want to give it a go, I’d suggest doing a bit of reading first to understand the approach as a parody, because I didn’t find the anime series to do a good job of making that clear. It may not be for everyone, but I’m glad I gave it a go as it really hooked me.

Monogatari - how do I order these “properly”?

I can never seem to figure out the best display / watch order for these. Chronological? Release order? Help?!

Also, am I missing anything?

I’ll post a better showcase once I know I’m ordering them in a sensible way.

SAO Selection

I’m finally getting around to watching the SAO Progressive movies and I thought I would share my SAO collection. It used to be much bigger, but I always felt the Aincrad arc was by far the best in the series… so I parted with most everything beyond Season 1.

The rest of the seasons were still a fun watch but I didn’t see myself rewatching them time and again like the first season.

Is this a PS3 era feeling budget game? Absolutely. Does it have an addictive progression system and non-annoying trophy hunt? Also absolutely.

I came for the goofy, musical story and stuck around for the surprisingly fun, short and sweet, chaotic battles and powering up grind.

A lot of fun. Highly recommended to anyone who likes NIS games and Power Stone feeling arena battles.

I’ve always loved this series so I was so lucky to catch the kickstarter and get a pledge in. It came with all sorts of other goodies (magnets, a mug, t-shirt, a massive limited and numbered print, etc.), but the Blu Ray set and the hardcover book are my faves. The brand new English dub is so amazingly well done.

I just wanted to share a few of my favorite big box sets and the “upgrades” or double dip editions that go with them. I have a few more big boxes I’d love to showcase if there is interest in these kinds of posts.
